…and gets plenty of cheers when politicians propose the idea. But if this idea is implemented in real life, it may have unintended consequences. It can be argued that profitable corporations, such as Walmart & Apple Computer, can absorb the cost of a wage increase, but the mom & pop businesses in small towns will have a difficult time with these added costs. A lot of presidential candidates tell us they will create more jobs for us, but many of them pass laws that make job creation more difficult. Business owners have to spend money on materials, labor, utilities, insurance, payroll taxes, and government taxes & fees in order to operate. On top of that, they worry about conforming to new business regulations that are passed annually by Congress. If politicians are serious about creating jobs in the USA, they should give up the idea of increasing the minimum wage to $15 an hour—for the sake of small business owners who are struggling to make a profit. The unintended consequence of a major wage increase could result in massive layoffs, more unemployed youth searching for an entry-level job, or higher-priced products that low income Americans can’t afford. Politicians should also give up the idea of forcing businesses to purchase a health insurance plan for their employees. I think that should be optional.

What I propose is this: if the public seriously wants an increase in the minimum wage, then give business owners some sort of a tax break in order to cut costs. I would accept a $5 minimum wage increase in exchange for the elimination of payroll taxes and reducing the corporate tax to 20%. And instead of giving people fines for not buying health insurance, I would make all health insurance premiums tax-deductible for individuals and business owners. In fact, I think that any company that pays for health insurance and contributes to 401(k)/retirement funds for their employees SHOULD NOT BE TAXED AT ALL!

"I saw that there comes a point, in the defeat of any man of virtue, when his own consent is needed for evil to win-and that no manner of injury done to him by others can succeed if he chooses to withhold his consent. I saw that I could put an end to your outrages by pronouncing a single word in my mind. I pronounced it. The word was ‘No.’" (Atlas Shrugged)

It is not entirely clear to me that this is unintentional.

Society asks MGTOWs: Why are you not making more tax-slaves?

The other big issue with raising the minimum wage is the wage differential.

In layman’s terms you can’t pay a brain surgeon the same as a street sweeper, There must be higher pay for more experienced people doing skilled work, otherwise what’s the point taking on the burden in terms of qualifications, effort and responsibility to be a brain surgeon?

If for example a manager is paid 20% more than the minimum wage staff he manages to reflect the extra responsibility he takes on by doing so, raising the wage of those staff from $10 to $15/hour means raising the manager’s wage from $12 to $18/hour in order to keep him in that position, otherwise why would he not say, screw this I’ll just become a minion as well? Less effort, less responsibility, less stress for the same or a smidge less money, why not?

So in order to raise the minimum wage you have to raise everyone’s wages and those raises are larger the higher up the food chain you go, as everyone’s wage/salary rises and with it the cost of business then either the price of the company’s products will have to increase accordingly or the company will have to start cutting workforce, with the negatives that come with that course of action.

Raising the minimum wage is just another form of inflation.

I will have to stop hiring and training entry level laborers, if it gets raised to $15 per hour.

Young people have to learn how to show up on time, return phone calls, honor their word, and stay focused for more than a couple hours. Where are they going to learn how to do this, if all of the $9 per hour jobs disappear.

What happens when a man finally comprehends the cold and calculating thoughts that are going through a woman's mind, while her eyes are brimming with tears?
