    Hi Guys,

as I probably mentioned in my introduction, I’m quite an history geek and I like reading and watching documentaries about different cultures.

I’m currently trying to find some good info about the French revolution or native American history, if anyone of you knows some good books or online courses I can watch, that’d be great.

I’m not a history geek — my background is in the sciences — but I also enjoy history. And the French Revolution, with its very different outcome from the American Revolution, is fascinating.

I recently subscribed to The Great Courses Plus. You can do a trial subscription for about $10/month. They have a decent course on the French Revolution if you like documentaries.

I would also recommend you check out the Kahn Academy, which is FREE.

I took a French History class in college. This was a textbook:

As far as Native American history, you will have to be more specific, as the Native American population was very diverse. Each geographical region of the US had unique tribes. Narragansetts lived very different lives than Zunis and Iroquois lived differently than Apache. Each region and tribe probably has a book.

Quite a tall order there, Freedom.

You should start with introductory texts:

For the French Revolution, pick up Simon Schama’s Citizens

For Amerind “history”, pick up Charles Mann’s 1491.

Both are good places to start and both will have bibliographies to guide further reading.

Frank’s suggestion regarding The Great Courses is an excellent one. Look seriously into that service.

Do not date. Do not impregnate. Do not co-habitate. Above all, do not marry. Reclaim and never again surrender your personal sovereignty.
