My wife had family in Canada and she loved it there. Compared to UK the standard of living seemed high, The Nature vast, the society civilised and rational.

Canada today, is a perfect example of what happens when 2 or 3 regions dictate policy to a much larger area.
Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City, and Vancouver are completely out of touch with the rest of Canada. Most provincial capitals, as well as the National Capital have no idea how about what life is like outside of those areas. Our politician just keep pandering to whatever flavour of the day is to garner votes.

A little history here.
Most Provinces did not become provinces until 1905.
Provincial control over natural resources was not “granted” until 1935.
Prior to the 1920’s the RCMP were in fact the NWMP. (It was the NWMP that escorted Sitting Bull in and out of Canada, and stopped Al Capone at the Saskatchewan Border).
Upper and Lower Canada (from Toronto to Quebec City) controls the rest of Canada (RoC).
Most of our Governments have been Liberal for our history. Hence they ( the liberals) ascertain that the Liberals are the “Natural ruling party of Canada” . Notice that is is ruling not Governing.
Clawing back provincial powers to the Federal Government is the legacy of P.E.T this current t~~~s supposed father.
