I thought I’d ask this question here because I’m sure as hell not going to get a straight answer anywhere except this community. I’ve always had a dog all my life. Several of them in fact. But they’ve always been male dogs. It’s been about 4 years since my last dog passed away and I didn’t really want to get another one (too painful when they die), but now I’m thinking about getting one.

I’ve been browsing Craigslist for the past few days seeing if I can adopt a dog. But my question is, are female dogs any different? I’m very wary of females in general, and I’m wondering if their BS is limited to the human species or not. So far I’ve seen a few really good sounding dogs, but I’ve avoided them because they were female. Anything I should know about female dogs before I get one? I’m not saying I’m getting a female dog. I just don’t want to pass up a great dog because of its gender if gender is irrelevant.

I grew up with a fixed female black lab. She was awesome.

My opinion is that the breed imparts certain basics but each pets personality is the key.

    I recommend shelter pets.

Best dog I ever had was a mixed Australian shepherd and Heeler. Never wanted to take a bath but the most awesome looking dog. I got him out in the desert it was just a little puppy never got his nuts cut off. Once a year hed go out running around that’s about the only downside. Shelter dogs are great I have one right now but I wish he had never been cut. Now this dog has a male temperament he gets a little weird sometimes but I’ve had female dogs and they are very anxious so that’s my experience

I can see their heads have been twisted and fed with worthless foam from the mouth. Bob d

My female black lab passed away 18 months ago. I got her from a shelter. She was awesome. I have a male beagle puppy now who is a coming along pretty well. Personally, I like the non-aggressive more intelligent breeds and female dogs. The beagle is quite fun though. He’s a true DGTOW.

Female dogs are cool, unlike their female human counterparts they haven’t lost their identity, they’re still at peace and in tune with nature. By all means get a female dog, I like males only because I keep all the females outside except Satan/Lucifer my male goat, he’s the only male that has to live outside with his bitch Pandora and the hens…

I have a female dog and she’s great. Just because human females are insane doesn’t mean canine females are too. She mostly sleeps on the bed anyways and is low maintenance.

I want to shove Ms. Piggy in a woodchipper. No quote. That's all.

I have had both as well and agree with everything stated. Definitely rescue a dog if you can, dogs never seem to forget you saved their life.

Kelpie cross border collie.Never feed your dog tin food.If you do change to cooking ya dogs food and watch the difference. Tin food for a dog is like giving ya kids red lollies every day.

Four female Rottweilers over 30 years. All have slightly different personalities, all are completely loyal to their owner. A couple of them were quite obviously willing to die defending me. One was a Golden Retriever in a Rottweiler suit. Female dogs won’t lift their leg and p~~~ on your motorcycle.

I wish human females were as good.

Prior to my current dog which is male:

I was fortunate to be able to share 14 years of my life with a female Australian Sheppard. She was not a pet but a companion. And one that exhibited more of a capacity for empathy and love than any human female I have ever known.

And she didn’t try to cheat on me with other humans and try to find a new home.

Despite the fact she could have found a new home with a larger backyard and other stuff. There wasn’t an ounce of hypergamy in her.

And speaking of female animals in general.

They are totally different than female humans.

It’s the absence of narcissism, sociopathic traits and characteristics and maybe even pure evil due to a soul that lacks empathy as in human females.

Seriously: Watch some of the shows on the Discovery channel and related channels.

I saw a video of a female rabbit that returned to her burrow to find a large snake in it that had already ate two of her three babies. The female rabbit went fckng nuts on the snake, risking her life vs. a predator that could have ate her too. Literally went tactical, using her back legs (which are stronger than the front ones on rabbits) to lay down some medieval justice, had the snake near death before the snake barely made it away.

Human females, despite their acting and histrionic nonsense really don’t give a s~~~ about their children. They just don’t. 99% of the time, a guy or the state is actually paying for the kids. Women don’t sacrifice for a cause greater than themselves and/or the life of their offspring.

I had a Shepard collie mix…shorter german shepard looking with a big pouf of white fur in the front…smart, playful protective and she was great with kids. Orangy brown all over with a black saddle. didn’t bark much, friendly to friends, protective to strangers.

OMG the hair!!! double coated, hair everywhere…I thought the dog was made out of hair.

ut my question is, are female dogs any different?

It really depends on the breed but generally no however their barking is not a deep as male dogs. Female dogs are not bad dogs and they still won’t be able to get alimony from you.

Just an east coast asshole who likes to curse, If you get offended by words like fuck, cunt, shit, piss, bitch or any racial slurs then you just scroll down.

Ah! Go for male, they’re more playful. Personally I find female dogs to be more gloomy, more aggressive and more maintenance (blood on the carpet anyone?). Though I just speak from my experience with female dogs in the family.

My current one is a male Spitz, 5 years old and is definitely a lot more playful and fun.

I’ve had two dogs, both intentionally females. The main reasons I got females is because they don’t p~~~ all over the place to mark territory when you have them outside and they don’t hump everything. They don’t bleed or go into heat or any of that s~~~ either if you fix them.

As far as being more or less friendly, intelligent, playful, or whatever, I don’t think there are really any differences between male and female dogs. I’m pretty sure the average female dog is too smart to act like a human female.

But my question is, are female dogs any different?

What Beer said ^^ plus they CAN tend to be “more docile and controlled”. And a dog trainer once told me a bitch will get really uncomfortable when she doesn’t feel the end of her leash.

( Still talking about “dogs” of course. )

If you keep doing what you've always done... you're gonna keep getting what you always got.
