They still leave you, regardless. They will tell you that you treated them right, but “we are just going different directions”. Then, you find out they have been thinking this for months, talking on Facebook and Snapchat with the next guy she is seeing behind your back (Because you know you have to have a backup plan before you make a move). It’s hard to reason with a fool. A newer technique I’ve adapted is to speak esoterically. I don’t conceal the truth to the extent that no one would ever understand.
