I managed to drive the her OUT of my room with her own logic LOL. This is my mom telling me I shouldn’t support charities that help depression, and that depression isn’t a real thing. And she tells me to “think past my nose”. Sure.

I recommend pushing on to the end, I know this is so f~~~ing hard to listen to, but the ending is really great IMO.

Depression is no joke. It has to be taken seriously. People kill themselves because they can’t stand being depressed anymore.

I had one dickens of a case, which turned out to be caused by nutritional deficiencies. Others have different causes and need different cures. I don’t know of anyone who was cured by getting a pep talk from a relative.

Society asks MGTOWs: Why are you not making more tax-slaves?

I listen to the whole discussion. It struck me that she was more interested in being right than she was about the topic at hand. What is more, she was using fear tactics. God will not reward……. You are going to have to account for how you spend you money. Etc.

I don’t believe that she was interested in an actual debate in which ideas are shared and debated.

By the way. Clinical depression frequently has a physical component in the brain. There have been instances of profound depression that have not responded to any therapies including electroshock (last resort). Lately, there has been surgery in which an electrode in implanted in the brain that cycles a low current through the brain with profoundly positive results. It has been used in depression and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). An example of a person with OCD is Howie Mandel.

The word charity is found primarily in the King James Version of the Bible, and it nearly always means “love.” In the great “love chapter”—1 Corinthians 13—the KJV translates agape as “charity” while the modern translations render it more accurately as “love.” The only use of the word charity to indicate “giving” is Acts 9:36, which refers to Dorcas, a woman “full of good works and charity.” The Greek word here means “compassion, as exercised towards the poor; beneficence.” The KJV translates it “almsgiving.”

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me . . . I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me’” (Matthew 25:34-36, 40). Clearly, when we care for someone in need, we do the will of Christ.

"I asked you a question. I didn't ask you to repeat what the voices in you head are telling you" ~ Me. ........Yes I'm still angry.

Yep, I do know that depression is an actual condition, and that physical triggers can be the cause. It might seem like I’m stereotyping depression and it’s cures in the byte there, but I not trying to. However, I wasn’t able to actually speak intelligently on the subject- or rather, speak at all, because of the person I was dealing with.

I’m sorry but as someone who has struggled with depression for nearly 25 years I find this repugnant.

As do I. Just earlier this year, I had thoughts of suicide and whatnot, which she marginalized and made if they didn’t exist- in fact, making FUN of them. (/forums/topic/my-mom-is-f~~~ing-weird/)

Because of that, I dealt with it myself (attempting a failed suicide). This opened my eyes to the fact that women, the people I had been force-fed to believe were caring and understanding, were…full of s~~~.

She seems to be targeting you as a Beta provider, intent on crushing any type of independent thinking you have with gynocentric and religious weaponry.
I’m in awe at how you can keep your cool
I’d have crumpled and exploded and made a scene, which is exactly what they want you to do.’

When she realises you’re leaving she’ll escalate her bullying in some vain attempt to control you. The guilt trips, convincing you you’re stupid and threats of god’s damnation will go to fever pitch.

Get out quickly and discreetly then distance yourself from her.

I would be ashamed to have to call this woman my mother…

You give her much more cool than she deserves, but i guess that’s for the best since she would probably explode on you in significant orders of magnitude over what you would say, she is very disrespectful towards you, and seems to always talk down to you also, which is great shame.
It does make me appreciate how wonderful my mother is, i have been around her for years now and my parents divorced recently
The fact that my mother didn’t in any way try to f~~~ over my father before or after the divorce and the fact that i have never seen her try to manipulate me or anyone else for that matter in my eyes puts her in good NAWALT status, but hey i may be biased xD

I don’t think I’ve ever had a good intellectual debate with any woman, they either aren’t interested or aren’t capable to bring anything new or insightful other than emotional arguments or the most widespread and socially acceptable viewpoint on whatever is being discussed

I would explode if anyone tried to preach to me like this and tell me what i can and can’t think, let alone the fact that i don’t believe in god as that would annoy me also….

I just hope as others have said, that you will succeed in moving out of that preaching cesspool that i guess you currently have to call home….

To be fair though, i assume your mother does love you and isn’t a total narcissist (i hope)

The problem with arguing with mothers is that they are women, but if your under 18 they have full control over you regardless of what you want.

I’m sorry that’s awful. I hope as soon as you are able you can get far away from your mom and not look back. Depression is a lonely road for those of us who suffer from it. Women who suffer from mental illness get a lot of sympathy; men, not so much. It’s really just horrible.

Yep, I told her I was moving out soon, and what does she do? Tell me that I need to do the will of God. LOL

Jack, I am definitely in a MUCH better place mentally. This site, as well as my base cynical outlook on the world helped me a lot as far as my resolve goes.

I have my own proofs of this.
95% of the times it goes to education (how we treat males and how we treat females in their early years).
My cousin has a daughter who she does not look after much and that kid is amazing.
The little monster is smart, cleans the home (She is 3… and she cleans the home), Likes learning math with me and even understands not to hold a grudge since its pointless (I teached her that myself, kinda proud of it).

On the flip-side my other cousin has 2 kids, a 6 year old daughter and a 1 year old boy:
Before the boy was born she was a attention whore and impossible to listen to.
Now she is almost as bad but at least takes care of the boy a bit.

So, why is that important? Because those who are hard workers value their work (in a relationship this is probably 30% of long term requirements for a relationship to work).

Humans have a natural tendency to value more that what took them more work to get. (Try this: Find a way to get two items you want like a iphone and a laptop for example, save for one for 3 months, eat worse food to save the cash, read online reviews to get the best for your money, etc…. then the other get for Christmas or something similar: Then see what you care more for).

Its an example obviously, adapt it to your situation as best possible.

This seems to be the same for me when I am feeling down. I do hate my job but I feel ten times worse when I am busy and my diet consists of takeaway pizza and beer so my body gets no goodness at all. Why I take vitamin tablets all the time and try to eat healthy when I get the chance
