Open relationships remind me of a documentary i watched on the jewel wasp. The female jewel wasp stings a roach in the central nervous system with a mind numbing chemical, that doesn’t kill the roach, rather turns it into a zombie. But humans are not bonobos. The difference is significant. Bonobos reach maturity in just a few years. Humans take decades. Human infants are also significantly more helpless and in need of care than bonobo infants. So it takes a hell of a lot more resources to raise an infant human to adulthood than a chimp.
