Good evening Fellows and Gents.

In recent days, we received a handful of reports from a few about private messaging. Maybe you couldn’t start a PM with someone, couldn’t see the “MESSAGE” button on their profile, or vice versa. We have gone in, tested and are pretty sure it’s all sorted, need another day to be sure, but here is the way it works.

1. BASIC MEMBERS cannot start a PM with anybody. This is just common sense so a newbie can’t just start chatting with you. But they can reply up to 3 times a day…. so basic members have a limited ability to private message, swap emails, or keep it short.

2. Upgraded GHOST and GALT members can message anyone who allows it. So if you can’t see a “MESSAGE” button on their profile, they don’t want you to. These member levels also have extended privacy settings so they can make their profile private, they can also set rules like “Only people I follow can message me” and “only people I follow can view my profile” etc.

That’s what the “follow” button is for. It’s not to be stalker or anything like that….. it’s to say “This dude is cool. He can follow, read or PM me”.

Visit/adjust your profile/privacy settings on your “account” page:
/account/privacy/

We would recommend you keep yourself visible, viewable and reachable unless you would really rather not. Only logged in members can see “who’s online now”.

EXAMPLE: I accidentally had my privacy setting set to “only people I follow can view my profile” and “nobody can message me”. That was my mistake and that’s why you thought it was malfunctioning. I have changed this to “only people I follow can PM me”. So if I am following you and you can’t see a message button… please tell me.

If you should notice permissions are not working as explained above, leave a message below and we can override login as you and check it out.

PS. We are doing some work on our mgtow.com emails, so if you tried to email me ( personally) and it couldn’t be delivered, we know. Otherwise the contact form is working as expected and all of that.

How about the notification system for messages (or general posting)? i remember days where i saw a notification system but it went away after a day or two.

Or possibly setting a private message system to those who have been on here long enough to where they can send a limited amount of messages a day (like for example those who are not new but have enough stars can send up to 1 to 3 messages a day or something like that).

Thanks @anonymousyam! This is a new thing we had tested but we found it slowed the site down during peak times. Very convenient. It’s on right now – indicated by a bell in the lower left corner. If you have an alert, a little red indicator will appear.

Please don’t be creeped out if it says “so-and-so viewed your profile” . This is actually needed for us to test how “live” it is. We cannot constantly create posts and send private messages to test that it’s working ….. so the “X just viewed your profile” is a quick way for us to test it.

This also adds another panel on /account/ where you can change your web notification settings. You can tell it to NOT tell you if someone viewed your profile. etc.

This will be a very cool feature here, just maybe not for everyone, because it’s a bit heavy when the site is super busy.

This clarify things up, but I have some questions for you KM:
1) When you pay for an upgrade, does it go as a monthly subscription automatically or can you try one month and then decide to keep it up or shut it? Because when you go for an upgrade it only asks for the credit card credentials and nothing more.
2) Will there ever be a way to pay via Paypal?

Yes it’s recurring automatically, but its all handled by the processor, we don’t know anything except your email and the last 4 digits of your card. Nothing is stored or kept here.

Of course you can shut it anytime just by requesting it. Just understand if you request the included MGTOW EMAIL address (forward or full box), that will end as well. Because that costs us monthly to provide.

( If you cancel, your card and reference to it is permanently removed and we send you a snapshot of proof showing its’ cancelled and gone – for your peace of mind.)

Yes but but not for the monthly – yet – because its complicated and we need to tie it in to the member level. Even paying a year up front is not recommended because we don’t know what tomorrow will bring. So monthly is best.

Most of these upgrades are requested things over time that we implemented. You don’t “NEED” them but it’s there and it’s also a way for new members to approve themselves if they don’t want to wait for an admin to get around to it.

We’re not staffed around the clock (yet) except to make sure it’s always up and running.

“Upgrades” are kind of a way for the site to grow according to the members. We defer the feature requests and growth over to you. If you request stuff and you upgrade, we have reason and ability to continue developing and do more. The site will grow over time based on that. The more upgraded members, the more we can work here.

But on a basic level, the site is free for everyone. There is no obligation to upgrade or judgment of you want to cancel.

Monthly/paid upgraded members are the reason the site is much faster and more reliable now. Thats the first thing we did. That contributes to the site/MGTOW climbing in cultural awareness. So they deserve a hand for sure.

We also upgraded our first 11,000 members to Ghost because they helped build the place. So they enjoy the extras for free. What was really mind-blowing was how some of them upgraded monthly anyway. Just unbelievable, and it meant a lot.

I have NO complaints as to how all the bells and whistles work (thanks for fixing my MP KM I wasn’t complaining, you do way too much anyway, but never the less appreciated, THANK-YOU)

I’m just thrilled to always come here and see the tires on the road and singing, instead of you guys always fixing the flats caused by the evil nails of narcofeminists!

I’m not sure if it’s fixed yet, everything is here like the bell in the lower left corner is working, had 2 messages and responded, but not sure if they are “sending” they appear to be frozen unlike before they would pop up in their own dialog box.

I’m pretty good at chess, I learned to play when I was 7yo.

My brother? Forget about it! He creams the computers by sacrificing strength for position, the computer plays just like a woman! She can’t resist the apparent “something for nothing”.

I run about 6 to 8 moves ahead mentally before it gets lost in the confusion of possible consequential combinations. I f~~~up allot by getting too defensive and dragging out a game and sometimes loosing when I should have already made a checkmate.

Worlds most awesome board game and the only one I’ll play.

A game for gentlemen.

I don’t see too many women chess champions, they should protest! Then rewrite the rules giving them two Queens and no KING!

Sounds fair enough going by how the judicial system operates!

Also, big shout out to Key and the other Admins for their tireless efforts on the pm issues, whatever they were, I have had none, and all the other countless menial tasks that are bestowed upon them at all hours of the day and night…We salute you and thank you sirs!!!

No sweat joller, I received a bunch of inquiries and brushed up my membership page including a google earth address showing this forested place where nature has reclaimed the land of this gutted corporate carcass. I have nothing to hide and set no limits on communication preference.
