I wish Trump would have used this announcement to call out the corrupt judge and the fraudulent kangaroo court that violated Judge Arpaio’s basic constitutional rights and due process when they refused him his right to trial by a jury.

I disagree. The Arpaio prosecution was a fraud and a travesty of justice, and that fact rightly should be mentioned in the presidential pardon statement. In fact, the granting of the pardon is the most appropriate time and the best opportunity to bring the facts to bear and cast cleansing sunlight on the criminals who carried out this wrongful prosecution for all the world to see. Unfortunately, the president’s announcement didn’t mention it:

“Arpaio’s life and career, which began at the age of 18 when he enlisted in the military after the outbreak of the Korean War, exemplifies selfless public service,” read a statement from the White House.

“After more than fifty years of admirable service to our Nation, he is worthy candidate for a Presidential pardon,” the statement concluded.

Edit: On a second reading I think Secret Agent MGTOW was probably responding to the statement that “both will be called racist as usual” in JVB’s post, not the corrupt judge I mentioned. My mistake.
