    Nope not more death threats.

I can’t wait for Dark Souls remastered to come out on 25th.

Really got into these games recently. Hard as hell, but very rewarding. And it’s nice to play something that isn’t another FPS close. They have a sense of exploration and instant death and tension about them that has been mostly lost from gaming since the original tomb raider games (which has now been turned into 3rd person fps close with politically correct story agenda).

I finished Dark Souls 3, but never got chance to finish 1 and 2. Plan to finish 1 this time round.

1 is the only one I completed and I loved it. It must have taken me something like a 5 hour sitting to beat those Bell Tower Gargoyles and it was so rewarding when I finally did (I honestly don’t know how I didn’t smash a couple of controllers in the process though)

Gave up on 2 in some sort of castle towards the end as got bored

Gave up on 3 on the final boss – I f~~~ed up my armour set and had heavy armour which meant I wasn’t quick enough to take him on so had to go naked for speed. If memory serves me – I somehow managed to beat him and then he f~~~ing regenerated his health and hulked up and I just couldn’t do it. Really enjoyed it though

If you have a PS4 then pick up Bloodborne – from the same developers but has a few nice tweaks on the DS formula and is an absolute classic

Should I just get Dark Souls 3 now or wait for the 1st? I heard the trilogy is hard as hell and that’s what makes me hesitant because I don’t want to start pulling my hair out or bash controllers but as Jim and others said each step is very rewarding and makes you want to push yourself and test the limits. I have to take into account these games are Japanese so there’s that masochist/sadist factor.

Hard to say whether to start with 1 or 3. I played 1 first so it might just be I spent more time with it overall, but 3 seems to have systems that are a little more complex, and some of the early bosses seem more unforgiving. That said, 3 is pretty linear, whereas 1 is more of a Metroid style world so it might be easy for someone new to get lost.

As for myself, I’ll be glad to have DS1 on PS4 even if I’ve heard some not so great news about the graphics in comparison to the PC port. As long as it runs well I’ll be happy. The only Fromsoft game I’ve actually completed was Demon’s Souls(thanks to duping), and I’ve only gone half way through DS1, 3, and Bloodborne, so it’ll be nice to try again.

Not exactly the same game but Breath of the Wild has drawn some comparisons. Being in the middle of a no armor run in that game, I may try out the depraved class in DS1 just for fun, maybe with the stipulation I can upgrade the starting armor and weapons but have that be it.

These guys do a very good guide to Dark souls (they also do full guides for Dark Souls 2 and 3) with how to find the best loot and how to fight the bosses. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8DQrkngU6M

I learned a lot and really improved my fighting style watching some of their videos

I’ve played Bloodborne and really enjoyed it, got about half way through, but then got distracted and haven’t played it for a while.

I enjoyed Nioh too, definitely worth checking out if it’s on sale. Slightly different style, but has a lot of dark souls elements.

Well good luck. There’s a lot to learn but the challenges are well worth the reward. I’d have struggled without a guide as a lot of the mechanics aren’t really explained like equipment load and fat rolling and mid/light rolls. I didn’t really get the importance of crafting either and upgrading weapons until the guide. Where you put your stats on levelling up is important too.

DS1 just started install on digital download. A midnight gaming session coming on in 2 days time.

This series is my favourite of all current games. I’m looking forward to the developer’s next release.

As far as Fromsoft games go I’d love a Metal Wolf Chaos HD, but it doesn’t seem very likely since it was never released outside Japan (even though it had full English voice acting).

I guess I should be glad at least we’re getting this. I opted for a physical copy so I hope it gets here on time.
