Judges now to provide extra considerations for women, during bail hearings, if the woman is pregnant.
I don’t have an objection to releasing a non-violent offender from jail if they are not a threat to society and the likelihood is they will show up for the court date.
I do have an issue with the continued deviation of law solely based on gender, and this strikes me as simply another advantage that we have now baked in to law……..based on gender.
How many men are being held in jail awaiting the trial for a non-violent offense, because they can’t come up with the money for bail, and they end up losing their job because of absence?
And once they lose their jobs, things spiral. They then eventually lose their house, maybe their car, get hauled before another court because they can’t make their child support payments.
I hear no or little concern for the plight of these men. Just another way to extend the pussy pass.
I will also mention that the holding facilities for pregnant women are pretty decent. The medical care is good. The food is hot and served three times a day on schedule. Beds have clean linen. Doctors on 24 hours staffing. For many of these women, held on low level drug charges, the best outcome for the baby would be for the woman to remain in the facility.
Men, on the other hand, are held in hell-holes. The Cook County jail would rival the conditions in some third world countries.
Not a peek of concern for the way the system ruins these men’s lives.

It started as a shouting match in a Cook County courtroom last year is now on the verge of shaping state policy for pregnant women in jail waiting for trial.
The contentious case heard in August before a longtime judge inspired a bill — passed last week by the Illinois House and Senate — that seeks to reduce the likelihood that expectant mothers charged with nonviolent offenses will be held in jail as they wait for their cases to be tried.
The measure, which requires judges to hold additional hearings before ordering a pregnant woman be held in jail, has reached Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner’s desk and needs his signature to become law.
“This is commonsense and compassionate public policy, and I hope that (Rauner) signs it quickly,” said state Rep. Kelly Cassidy, who sponsored the bill. “I go back to contemplating the birth stories for these children and that we have the opportunity to impact those kids’ lives. … It’s worth it.”
“Having three kids myself, I know it is a critical, critical period for a child to be with his or her mom,” Sussman said Tuesday. “I was shocked that this was going on, particularly for a nonviolent, low-level offender who was essentially pulled over for having a nonfunctioning headlight.”
The bill requires judges to find an alternative — such as electronic monitoring, placement in a drug-treatment facility or personal-recognizance release — for women likely to give birth while in custody. Judges can order pretrial detention only after holding a hearing to determine if a woman poses a threat to others.
It’s difficult to assess how widespread jailhouse pregnancies are because Illinois does not keep centralized data about them, according to Cassidy and Alexis Mansfield, lead attorney at Chicago Legal Advocacy for Incarcerated Mothers. National data on the issue are scant too.
As of Tuesday, the jail had 16 pregnant detainees awaiting trial, two of whom were out of jail on electric monitoring, said Hanke Gratteau, director of the Sheriff’s Justice Institute.
How can a woman be expected to be happy with a man who insists on treating her as if she were a perfectly normal human being.
Hey Romulus.
When I was about seventeen, I remember seeing a news story about pregnant law-breakers.
The story was arguing that under no circumstances should a woman be arrested, convicted or jailed if she was pregnant. Then on to the usual bulls~~~ about how adversely it would affect both the baby and the mother.
I was slightly more blue pill when I saw this. I had a steady girlfriend and was still trying to forgive women’s failings. I was seventeen, I didn’t know any better. Anyway, feminism wasn’t quite as bad back then, at least not in my country.
But even at that age, I remember being so p~~~ed off by that story. It was an early eye-opener on just how hypocritical feminism was getting. I said, “Maybe she could try not committing a crime, then? Giving birth in jail would affect the baby, sure, but so would committing the crime in the first place. If the mother doesn’t want her child being adversely affected, she could try not being a f~~~ing felon.”
And this was several years ago. It’s just outrageous. As if women aren’t already taking advantage of pregnancy benefits.

Bingo! Start worrying about the welfare of the child before you commit the crime!
Pussy passes get built up with a series of small advantages that accumulate over time. This is just another in a long line. And as you mentioned, it not the only one for pregnant women.

I met guys in jail who had NO business being locked up, as I myself hadn’t. Sick as f~~~, needing insulin and many had cancer or were so mentally ill that they didn’t even realize the charges pending against them, much less having committed the crime in the first place.
One guy, 64yo, had been in my pod a week before he jumped head-first onto the concrete floor from the second floor walkway. I heard the BOOM in my cell across the pod before looking out the little window and seeing him spread out dead on the concrete.
Never been in jail in his entire life and got depressed.
And what was his crime?? Missing a court appearance for some debt collection bulls~~~.
He was to be transferred to another county within the week where he’d be let go but the info hadn’t reached him in time!
Instead, he laid there on the concrete, belly and torso all puffed up, with his head half smashed in!
The sheriff’s office tried to lie to his daughter about the cause of his death, trying to say he slipped and fell, but a couple of inmates and myself reached her by phone later and told her the circumstances.
He was never to be held on the second floor due to his depression as there was NO safeguard railings in the pods.Cook County jail?
I was held there 48 hours during a transfer for eventual release.

If she is committing crimes and being violent, she doesn’t care about her kid inside her, why the hell should the state or anyone else care?
Women want everything, but want responsibility and accountability for nothing.

I’m sorry to hear you had to go through any of that terrible bulls~~~ Untamed.
It’s absolutely appalling the conditions society expects men to live under in these institutions. Anyone that has survived that, it’s a testament to their strength.Jails now serve as state’s dumping grounds for our mentally ill, as there are very few publicly funded treatment facilities.
Why would there be, mental illness and homelessness as social afflictions, proportionally fall on men. Funding our help, well, that would maybe mean one less women’s shelter somewhere.
It seems the state/jails are the worse. By that I mean the county jails where they lock up men. The women’s facilities are more like quad dorm rooms.

I was transferred to 4 different jails during my wrongful incarceration and what I noticed is that the jails and the attitude of the jailers reflect the economic state of the counties, meaning nice jails for upper middle-class counties and dumps for low-class counties.
Jails now serve as state’s dumping grounds for our mentally ill, as there are very few publicly funded treatment facilities.
True.
They’re also used as a money-making scheme for the counties as the states pay at least $120 a day per inmate.
Jails have become like stores where the inmates are the products on the shelves. The states and counties abuse of people’s lives all in the name of money, incarcerating anyone and everyone, guilty or not. The Bail bonds business demonstrate that in a very real and tangible way and now, in many states, the inmates have to pay a sum of money for every day they spend in jail.
When a civilization has sunk that low, it’s destruction shouldn’t be a surprise.
