    Hello guys,

I own my own business, and sometimes I drive my customers back home if they live locally while we fix their cars.

Anyways, my sister is a lawyer and she raised a pretty serious issue, if its me driving a female around to their home, they could raise a false rape/sexual assault alegation against me and it would be very hard to defend against, probably resulting in me spending some time inside, and because my business partner can’t do my side of the business it would probably kill our business fairly quickly if I’m not there.

I’ve got a dictaphone here at home, would it be worth me recording inside the car when ever I have a passenger? Its pretty easy to conceal.

What do you guys think, should I refuse to drive female customers back home to be safe, use the dictaphone etc?

    I’m interested in your opinions.

Install a dash cam. At the very least it would help poke holes in a false assault accusation.

It seems slightly risky given the fact you are not employed /required to assist your customers rides to their homes while their cars get fixed. Would a prosecutor believe your story when a 16 year old hoping for a free repair threatens you with an accusation and carries out with it?

Altruism and false rape accusations have some unrealized natural inclination to find each other.

Yes a dash cam. For $100 you can get on that films inside and out.

It records on a loop until you hit the rape button or have a crash.

$100 and the problem is solved.

Plus you can watch how old you get over the years ?

Get a cam. it’s for customer security as well as your own. shouldn’t be a problem with anyone unless they’re up to no good.

Should have a dash cam anyway. Make sure it records audio too. Only way to protect yourself against a psycho who will accuse you of rape unless you repair he car for free.

    Dashcam for the win, Alex.

I’ve friends who run an airport/limo service in their spare time and they’ve also begun driving for Uber. They swear by dashcams and had them installed even before they were cheap. Dashcam and passenger compartment footage has saved their asses many time, especially when a bachelorette party went real bad real quickly. The c~~~s involved made all the usual threats when their damage deposit wasn’t refunded and additional charges levied; i.e. harassment, rape, etc., only to stop whining and pay up when the footage was mentioned. My friends then took the added step of giving the recording in question to the cops just in case one of the skanks decided to change her mind later in the hopes that the recording had been deleted.

One important thing, make sure the car(s) you use for your courtesy service have notices in prominent places stating that video recording is in use. Your sister the lawyer should be able to help you with the correct wording. The notices should say something along the lines of “protecting” passengers in the case of an ‘accident” and nothing about protecting your business from scumbag customers.
