That women mature faster or sooner is more a physical maturity. They start to grow breasts and hit puberty sooner. They evolved that way because the younger they could start breeding, the better for the species and the more likely they were to be successful in finding a mate.

The whole women mature faster than men statement is twisted as well. Sure they mature PHYSICALLY before men do but often it’s men who mature INTELLECTUALLY and MENTALLY before the women do. Women conveniently like to leave that last part out. They use the broad term of “mature” to encompass the whole spectrum of the maturing process. It makes them look better.
