The Midwest region of the United States abounds with many “comfort food” recipes that can be termed “All-American”, however early settlers of the region included Germans, British, Italians, Hungarians, Scandinavians and others in the 1700’s.
These “All-American” meals are all simple and hearty in nature and are set on the table all at one time family style. These meals use items found throughout the “great plains” region; meats, dairy, relishes, soups, vegetables, and pies.
A pork tenderloin meal comes in many varieties, and includes everything from a sandwich, grilled on skewers, pan fried, pounded flat or left round. The difference between a pork loin and a pork tenderloin meal is the cut of meat, however both are fairly lean cuts. You may say that pork is pork, but the cut of meat does indeed make a significant difference.
A pork loin is wide and has steak-like pieces cut from it, is slow cooked or grilled, and a typical roast is cut to order and weighs two to five pounds.
A pork tenderloin however is thin and small, is cooked over fairly high heat, and a typical tenderloin is whole and weighs about a pound. A pork tenderloin is a great cut of meat to marinade or dry rub spices into. A pork tenderloin cut is most often pounded flat prior to cooking to increase the width of the cut.
Both cuts can be used with a wide variety of side dishes and included within almost any meal course, however both can be easily overcooked.

MEAT. GRILLE. EAT. GOOD.
Grilling is always a great way to prepare a meal. I’ll be grilling a pork tenderloin over the weekend for sure.

Blade, I will ask you for your opinion on Aussie comfort food when it comes around. I have had kangaroo steaks several times and enjoyed them. I of course did not cook it myself, but would have it again if possible.

Jan, Pork is Iowa and Iowa is pork. Cows and chickens are too valuable to just have on the BBQ.
