Lately I’ve been trying to get into both Mother 3 and Persona 5 again. I love RPGs, especially turn based stuff, so I’m glad there’s still some new stuff to experience. Well, I guess M3 is actually a decade old by now, and I had a lot of it spoiled unfortunately. P5 is entirely fresh, though, and its my first experience with the series. I haven’t come close to finishing it, so keep that in mind, but the story so far got me thinking about how it reflects in real world politics/social media/etc.

I have no idea how controversial it’s been as I haven’t frequented any forums about it, have no clue whether SJWs had any push in it or if it’s simply catering to the fanbase that’s already been there, but as it stands it feels pretty blatant in that the evil rich powerful adults are out to get everyone, and that kids even at 17 are pure and can do no wrong and are always misunderstood.

If this is anything to go by, I guess it’s no wonder the youth are as entitled as they are today. This takes place in Japan but it could very well be attributed to the US and probably many other places. It doesn’t seem quite as forced as in others games like Life is Strange but it’s not far.

Such a shame because the rest of the game is fine. A bit janky in some areas, and I kinda wish was more detailed and open in others like how you use your allotted time or seeing specific stats, etc. Even so, a lot of polish, style, fast paced action not often seen in turn based games, as well as a more unique setting. Maybe I’d see more of the stuff I’d want from the older ones since this seems to be an attempt to streamline the system they’ve made.

Don’t like to make comparisons much, and it’s a small spoiler, but this sort of idea has been used in other games, one such being The Silver Case, but in that it is far more subtle, less preachy, and at least in my opinion, the point was to show that there was no objective morality, but rather a race for power, and those who would choose whether to pursue it or walk away.

I’ll still continue to play it, just hoping I’m wrong and there’s some sort of twist, but it’s looking doubtful. Anyone else here play it?

I have found that Chrono Trigger has aged well.

For those that do not know what Chrono Trigger is, the electronic game is ‘the’ time travel RPG game of the 1990’s. The production crew for Chrono Trigger reads like a who’s who list of Japanese fantasy fiction. From Dragon Quest, to Final Fantasy, to Dragon Ball.

Chrono Cross was the game that was very memorable with a compelling storyline…
I stopped when most games went the FPS style. The view gives me headaches. Im just dawdling around with GW2 after GW1…Cheaper and is not grindy…

I stand with feet apart and let my balls hang free...Manginas dont have balls...See how they stand and sit at the whim of their masters...

There is one twist later on that I won’t spoil involving a certain character but otherwise it is a pretty straightforward story. Everyone raves about it but I didn’t think it was anything special

Enjoyed the game though(over 100 hours to finish) and there is a small bit of feminist s~~~ in there – “it is hard for a woman in a man’s world” type crap but it doesn’t spoil it

I wanted to punch Futaba in the face by the end though…all of the usual simps were saying how “cute” she was but she was as rude as f~~~, especially to Ryuji

But pick up Persona 4 if you can – it is vastly superior to 5 in every way. Better characters, better soundtrack, harder difficulty and better story/payoff at the end. P5 ends exactly how you expect it to (even the true ending isn’t anything special)
