Prior to the militant feminism we see today, it could be argued that the physical labor performed by women was more closely aligned to the physical labor done by men in the 1900s and the turn of that century. As men toiled on farms, in construction, forestry, mining, the military, in factories, on railways etc – women washed clothes by hand, did manual farm work, plucked chickens, hand-minced meat, milked cows and goats, collected wood, carted water, hand-pumped machines and made meals largely by hand without the aid of electric appliances. There was no lounging on the sofa watching Ellen in the air-conditioning and eating cheese-doodles while hubby toiled away as a wage-slave in a s~~~ty, dirty job.

Fast-forward 100 years of the oil-age and I notice men still do the vast majority of the hard, physically-taxing labor while women generally do far lighter, much less physically taxing tasks in climate-controlled offices with all manner of electrical appliances making light-work of traditional domestic duties.

It’s no coincidence the rise of the oil age and the fossil-fuel-fiesta coincided with feminism and greatly reduced the physical exertion required of women to survive. Women now have men and oil working for them, greatly reducing the physical work required of them – not to mention the rise of the welfare, child support and alimony systems which made any type of non-housework optional (the ongoing Vagina Monetization Scam) .

My hypothesis is that a looming future of peak-oil will result in ‘peak-feminism‘ as an energy-constrained society can no longer support billions of women in cushy, physically un-taxing jobs while the men must do ever-more physical exertion in hands-on jobs on farms, in construction, forestry, mining, the military, in factories, on railways etc.

The question is, are women really ready to give up the SUV, the long coffee dates, the paid cleaner, the air-conditioned office, Twitter, the daytime television, the Fakebook, the selfies, Netflix, the smartphone, the overseas travel and the day-spa appointments to go medieval?

Looking at those around me, the men are far better positioned to make the transition to peak oil than women are. The men already work physically harder, need fewer ‘luxuries’, are better with their hands, are more practical, save more money and can live frugally if required.

Googling the subject, I see peak feminism was addressed in the following article –

The Fairy Tale Of Feminism Is An Economic Anomaly And It’s About To End

    To quote the article –

“Through the contraction of the economy we are going to experience the contraction of all the economic gains of feminism. Female dominated professions are declining in the quantity of employment opportunities. Wages have stagnated or begun to fall in female dominated fields. The return of investment on liberal arts degrees is swiftly declining. Leaving many young women with large piles of student loan debt.

Currently we are on the top of the roller coaster where the clicking noise stops, the ride stops, and we feel the angle facing downward. The calm moment before the jerk plunges us down the bell curve and sets into motion the reversal of gains acquired from the Industrial Revolution.”

We are in for interesting times. I really don’t think the Gen-Y, Gen-X, and Millennial feminazis have any idea of the physically demanding future hurtling toward them. I wonder how these girls will get on when they have to ditch the smartphones to gut a chicken and help hubby hand-plant a corn crop in the paddock?

I’m ready to go back to using beasts of burden, I’m already using chickens for insect control (ticks) and goats for shrubbery control, animals doing the time and work of a lawnmower, what’s wrong with that? I save time, fuel, and machinery while growing a tasty animal to eat!

Win win as far as I can tell…

Been keeping one eye on oil for about 8 years now.

Decent hedge against the dollar. Oil prices go up, dollar goes down… and vice versa.

Speculators would NOT HAVE BELIEVED oil prices to be under $100 a barrel 5 years ago. I remember when it was $130 and suggesting $33 a barrel would have gotten you laughed out of the room. Some were calling for $300 a barrel by 2012. Crazy.

But one thing is for sure, if we are at peak oil now is not a bad time to buy some. It’s near bottom of the price range of the last +10 years as well.

I also heard (and you may look this up and don’t quote me ) but oil prices tend to dip approaching an election and then surge up after. Apparently it’s been a repeat pattern for a long time. I don’t know how true it is……

If you keep doing what you've always done... you're gonna keep getting what you always got.

Aww…not the cellphone. How else will they take a selfie of themselves gutting a cow?

Great point. But dont forget, even if feminism went away today, women would still be the way they are.

    Very well written article, Oz-bloke.
Here’s something else to consider. When a collapse of oil happens, what will replace it? The video indicates that another energy source will be found in about 10 years but what about the next day? If the economies of the developed nations collapse there is no oil to transport something as basic as potable water. So much so that water becomes the most precious commodity. A human being can live 3 days without water if in comfortable conditions and not having to fight for/hoard/hide water. Guns and ammo and the will to use them becomes almost as valuable.
How does this relate to feminism? I think we all know the answer.

Unfortunately when peak oil hits I’m sure women will expect men to white-knight to an even higher degree (increased male physical labor) in a desperate bid to maintain the lifestyle they have become accustomed to.

Given it currently takes 10 calories of energy to produce one calorie of food in the Western World, the land-whales have a rude shock coming to them when energy constraints kick-in and they have to drop their calorific intake to near-African levels –

I agree M52 that water will be the next gold. I personally don’t believe any renewable energy source can replace fossil fuels to the scale they can support Western living standards for 9 billion people. Ironically, we may be in the era of peak land-whale wife/girlfriend!

Once we run out of oil – we’ll have to go back for whaling. And surprise surprise! What a coincidence! Plenty of land whales all around!

Fascinating new video on peak oil which should have feminists petrified that decades of fossil-fueled gynocentric ‘female privilege’ are quickly coming to an end.

From the 27:22 mark the video looks at the decline of the Ghwar oil field, by far the largest conventional oil field in the world which accounts for more than half of the cumulative oil production of Saudi Arabia. Of particular note is the amount of water which is now being pumped out of Ghawar compared to oil.

Get ready to man those shovels, pitchforks, ploughs and man-powered machines ladies as your days of light work in climate-controlled offices will quickly come to an end!
