    Hey all,

I wanted to share a bit from famous comedian, Patton Oswalt.

After I listened to this specific bit, it helped me realize that we as individuals no longer create or dream, but rather consume others’ products and spend our lives talking about them (giving them poor ratings on websites or saying we want more of “x” becuase it was great, but that “x” was a remake).

Our generations in this electronic/digital age do nothing but take and consume and no longer put our dreams out there, we no longer take the time to make something.

After listening to this, which I laughed at at first, I stopped my cable subscription and sat down for several weeks and started writting again. I wanted to make something, produce something for others to look at (for better or worse).

This is the only way we as a culture stop the incessant rant of, “everything now-a-days is all the same…” Music sounds the same, books that are massively published with commercial backing and new movies that are coming out all have the same themes, they’re safe to ensure the most likely outcome of profit. Music is chosen using algorithms that predict it blandly melts over several genres so the most amount of people will find it “tolerable”, thereby marketable/profitable. But nothing is “edgy” anymore, no one takes a chance on something unconventional.

I hope this funny comedy bit helps inspire some to put down the remote or the video game controller, un-glaze their eyes and think about making and creating again, as opposed to non-stop consuming others’ works.

A Lion keeps no den. Becuase the Savanna, and all the space within it, all that walks and crawls upon it, belongs to him.

Thanks for sharing this. The days we live in are terrible days indeed! Men have to find themselves again. You are at the right place.
