all single moms who think their kids all should be in the gifted program…How do you tell these self absorbed c~~~s that their 5th grader would make a brilliant and gifted 2nd grader, not a gifted 5th grader?

I now see where my entitled children get their entitlement attitudes.

In defense of the single moms, compared to themselves and kid’s father Chad, they probably do seem talented and gifted….

What grades are these kids getting? Seems that unless they are getting A’s you can shoot the ‘gifted’ talk down right there.

Let’s think on this from a different perspective. Do the kids learn to use their creativity and brain, solve problems, do teamwork if needed? If they learn that, they are prepared for life. Everything else can be looked up in various books or Wikipedia or Google. I have a PhD but still look stuff up at Wikipedia if I don’t remember something immediately.

I remember, being on a high school student competition, we were allowed to use whatever books and lecture notes to solve (hard, complicated) tasks. That’s what measures one’s understanding. Regular class exams of easy tasks, but with “cheating” forbidden are only tests for short term memory. Stupid students learn stuff word by word without understanding it, and get away with that with almost good grades.

I’ve also been helping to teach a laboratory practice class for university students. I can smell if someone just memorizes stuff word by word, or really understands stuff.

Give them a practical task and see how long it takes for them to f~~~ up.

Yeah, they could just change the name to “participation diploma”.

Feminism isn't about equality with men, it's about leverage over men.
