Hey guys, I’ve been reading a book called Living Within Limits. It’s about population control. (Not the Neo-Nazi kind)

    lwl

I highly recommend it. The book uses math and physics to determine how much population the Earth can sustain. It all has to do with ENERGY. How many BTU’s can you burn…

All living organisms consume ENERGY. Plants do photosynthesis. Animals eat plants/animals to consume energy in the form of CALORIES. Every calorie has a BTU content.

Right now, humanity is on an unsustainable path. We keep talking about energy conservation but the COLD, HARD TRUTH is we’re using more and more energy every year.

We keep discovering new uses- meanwhile the Chinese and Indians are entering the global middle class and they are energy-hungry too…

There’s plenty of oil left, but the cheap stuff is running out. I’m referring to the light sweet crude from Saudi Arabia, Brent Sea, and West Texas.

The Saudis are currently pumping billions of gallons of seawater into their wells to re-pressurize them.

In 10-20 years, the Saudi’s will still be pumping oil- they just won’t be exporting it. They will need it to feed their own people.

One by one the list of oil importers has been growing and the list of oil exporters has been shrinking. Luckily, we still have plenty of unconventional oil at a higher price.

It’s all about ENERGY RETURNED ON ENERGY INVESTED (EROEI).

In 1930 it took 1 barrel of oil to get 100 barrels of the ground. That’s as close to free energy as we’re gonna get.

Fast forward to 1990 + we are at 37:1. In 2010 we were down to 20:1. Currently the light sweet crude is still around 20:1 but the tar sands/shale oil/offshore drilling is more like 5:1

We can’t run society as we know it on 5:1. Electricity will never be a problem because we have other sources (wind 20:1, nuclear 10:1, coal 80:1, natural gas 10:1), but TRANSPORTATION FUELS are gonna be a problem in the long term.

We went from Wood to Coal to Oil, and now we’re going to down-shift into natural gas and unconventional oil. Which also means FOOD will become much more expensive.

Modern agriculture depends on PETRO-CHEMICALS(fertilizers, pesticides) for the crops. Plus diesel for the tractors.

Remember, every calorie has a BTU content. As we progress towards a renewable/alternative energy society, their simply will not be enough BTUs to feed everyone.

This book is predicting a 2/3 die off worldwide and a 1/3 die off in America over the next several decades.

Americans are probably fine- we only spend 20% of our income on food. Africans, Indians, Chinese, + Middle Easterners should take a large portion of the hit as their income/food ratio is much higher.

Essentially the poorest 2/3 have to die. There is no amount of empathy that will solve this.

Much of this is likely to happen gradually as people begin to have fewer children, but inevitably people will starve to death.

It turns out there is no free energy in the universe per the laws of thermodynamics. Solar is an energy sink at .83:1 (without battery storage). You’re better off just burning the coal directly(unless you live in the tropics)

It’s not the end of the world though. Driverless taxis can help make transportation cheaper in the medium term, lab-grown meat is coming, sustainable agriculture is possible.

Eventually Americans will begin to eat Insects. Much cheaper in terms of BTUs. If you think that’s impossible, people once said the same thing about eating lobsters and shrimp.

100 years ago everyone was eating the swordfish and what-not. Lobsters and shrimp were just bycatch. Bottom feeders were not worth consuming until we depleted the big stuff.

My point is not to doom and gloom. Things will happen very gradually. I just wanted to point out that there is a limit to resources and therefore human population growth.

The book argues in favor of a Southern Wall to keep the immigrants out. Third world peasants have a tendency to consume, reproduce, pollute and move on.

The US and CANADA are one of the VERY FEW countries that are both pollution free and still have forests. We should preserve our country and our way of life while we can!

I denounce any calls for eugenics or anything crazy like that. As far as I’m concerned I just want the welfare people to die naturally through market forces.

Some immigration is probably ok too but we should be more selective. Geniuses/rich people are a net positive so we should keep H1B1 and investor visas.

    Regarding the recent UniteTheRight debacle:

I don’t condone Nazi death camps or anything like that, but I would simply like to point out that WHITE CHRISTIANS built this country and fought/died in all the major wars.

This is our country. We will not become second class citizens. The big immigration experiment only began recently(1970s) and it’s not a human right to come to this country.

As far as minorities go, I’m friends with a bunch of you in meatspace- as long as you work and produce value for the country you’re cool with me.

Chinese have China. Africans have Africa. Caucasians have America. Every major race has a homeland. Deal with it.

    Your thoughts?

Issue that sooner or later will have to be addressed on a world wide level. Got the feeling it is not going to go over well with anyone. China being the only country that actually did something about it.
Who gets the quota? Will it be on the known ability or political need. Known ability Germans will have the children, political the abject poverty in the worst countries. I am sure even that statement would p~~~ off some here in MGTOW.
While factory vegetable gardens can keep up the pace for years, it all comes down to just a matter of time.

I suspect human innovation will pull some rabbits out of the hat but long term we have to be realistic or we will turn out like Easter Island.

    There are limits.

That book was published in 1993, several years before the big shale boom in oil production.

The environmentalists are just another flavor of communists. Though, instead of stating that wealth is limited and should be equally divide, the environmentalists state that resources are limited and should be equally divided. Though, these same people believe it is only equal to give themselves more than everyone else.

Both claims of limitations of wealth and resources has been found to be lies to keep control of wealth and markets by the globalists.

It is the globalists pushing the “environmental treaties” which are not anything about the environment but about stealing from the common people and enslaving the common people to enrich and empower themselves.

This is why the globalists were p~~~ed off at President Trump pulling out of the Paris Accords, because that would have not done anything for the environment, but it would have destroyed the U.S. economy and stolen trillions of dollars of what little wealth the American people have to go into the pockets of globalists.

several years before the big shale boom in oil production.

Yes but shale is 5:1 EROEI. It’s barely profitable at this price and the wells deplete very fast.

Most oil is still coming from the big 3 suppliers. That’s why there’s 3 different prices. Brent Crude, West Texas Intermediate and Saudi Light.

Let’s make this simple. Abortion is population control.

Overcharging for healthy food and cheaply selling fatty foods is population control.

There is an ocean of shale and the oil shale companies are making a profit so well that the middle eastern nations are hurting.

Most oil is still coming from the big 3 suppliers. That’s why there’s 3 different prices. Brent Crude, West Texas Intermediate and Saudi Light.

Actually, that has changed in the last few years.

The top two oil suppliers are now the U.S. and Russia. This is why the globalists want to try to get the U.S. to start a war with Russia, so both nations destroy each other.

Presently, the price fluctuations at the pump have little to do with the price of crude oil and more to do with massive market speculations on oil.

Overpopulation is a serious issue. Over 27+k Indians have died in rail related incidents in 2014 alone!

I’ve thought a lot about overpopulation. I think it’s the primary reason for many of societies problems. Thanks for the book recommendation!

The more people in this world, means the Elite gets richer and richer, whilst the middle class and poor class converge.

It all has to do with ENERGY.

Just like Nikola Tesla states, “If you want to discover the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration”.

The biggest issue in the world is overpopulation, all other issues are a bi-product of this. I laugh in my country as the political party who are supposed to care about the environment (The Greens) are all for importing more migrants/refugees and increasing our population. It contradicts their main agenda as a political party. When ever you see refugee camps on the news etc they are full of young children and babies and if you look at the population growth in Africa its unbelievable. The most humane thing to do in some of these places would be to enforce sterilization rather than let the kids be born then starve to death, but the do gooders in western society would never allow this.

Agreed. If there’s a downside to reducing the number of people on the planet, I’m just not seeing it…

I’m experimenting with (small scale now) raising fish and plants in a aquaponics setup. On 2 1/4 acres, I have about 45 fruit trees, 60 fruit bushes, 10 nut trees & bushes, edible perennial ground covers. I have a few thousand square feet of calorie per square foot dense cattails. (even wapato). Several more thousand square feet of lawn is available for biointensive agricultures. (40 20’x5′ biointensive raised beds can produces enough food in one year to support one person. I can support about 5-6 people.)

Coming down the pike: chickens, dairy goats, biointensive toilet, so that the nutrients pooped out get converted back into soil to make more of a closed system. Wood burning stove is currently used for cooking and heating, and solar power will hopefully be purchased within a few years.
