True. In some cases, it’s because they’ve invested too much in their wrong thing, that the cost of switching to the right way of thinking is just too much to accept. You end up having to lose everything in order to lose that block and reconsider reality.

I saw an documentary on those of those who believe in flat earth, and this was the main take away. Once people commit to flat earth thinking, they’ve alienated themselves from normal society for the most part. Even if they rejected flat earth theory, they would not likely be accepted back into society. All rejection would do for them, is cause them to be rejected by the flat earth community, and thus everyone sees them as a loon or traitor. No one is on their. Thus they cling to the lie because anything else would crush their world.

I don’t know what to think of this personally. It seems to me that socialist ideas tend to grow in the dark. That is that the right side tends to ignore them and not take it seriously until it starts to gain enough support that it becomes a much tougher job to kill. So in that regard, I am glad that we seem to be paying attention to potential threats earlier these days.

On the other side, we could be wasting our time, or worse, making her appear more influential than she is. It really does feel like she’s been used a smokescreen. Or perhaps as a way for the left’s radical plans to seem more of a centrist position in comparison to what AOC is gunning for.
