I wonder what motivates women to act this way.
I think women are disloyal for 2 reasons:

First, some women have the opinion that men owe them resources just because they are women. If women suspect that men (resources) are trying to abscond, women try to keep her source of resources on the plantation by involving the authorities.

Second, women often are highly vindictive. Women are fully capable of ruining men’s lives for nothing more than retribution.

If I were trying to escape an oppressive government and I were married, I would certainly try to convince my wife that it was in her economic best interests to help me. Women don’t like to lose their resources.

There were these women that went with their men. Like my mother did. And those escape attempts were more likely to succeed. Like the “hot air balloon escape” from 1979. Those were 2 entire families working together building a big gas driven balloon to cross the border at night.
