I’ve been working out for nearly 2 months now, It’s been on and off for me for the last couple of years but I’m trying to stay dedicated to it this time instead of just a 3-6 month shred and then 3-6 months without exercise. I’m wondering what amount of my brethren use protein powder or other weight/energy enhancing concoctions in order gain results at the gym.
I can tell whenever someone uses because they’ll be a relatively small person in height overall yet their back, shoulders, chest and arms are absolutely bulging. Despite also being really young (which would naturally take years to acquire such a build).
Anyways whats your opinion is protein powder healthy, how do you get a natural kind that’s good for you. Is it worth taking, I’m fairly lean at this point but I still have some fat around my stomach. Also what happens when you stop taking protein powder, I hear a lot of people shrink over 2-3 months when they don’t take any I certainly don’t want that.
Waste of money.
I use Ostarine or GW1516 for mainly endurance sports but also strength and weights I do to keep body composite.
its not that healthy for you. i don’t recommend it.
you should eat natural protein, and be patient.
MGTOW is not a movement, it is a way of life.
Unless you’re really desperate to pack on every ounce you can I wouldn’t bother. It’s expensive, and probably won’t make that much difference unless you’re eating a s~~~ty diet. I’d just go for a bit more real food.

depends on your goals.
i had great successes with protein powder; went from 100lbs to 170-180lbs in 3 years, all natural.
about 100 grams of protein powder a day + whatever id normally eat.you do have to be careful and do you research.
i’ve never heard of anyone “shrinking” after protein powder; my best guess would be that they took a dairy based protein powder with lactose, which would cause your body to retain water.
best thing is to listen to your body. Ie, if your taking longer than 2-3 days to heal and rebuild, up your protein intake; eat healthier foods and so forth.
remember, not all proteins are equal. beef > chicken > fish > veggy, ect.
also be careful about your phytoestrogen intake.
My Goal: To Leave Society.
Anonymous42Tastes like s~~~! I use to use it during and after days of skiing, I’d rather eat a chicken! RAW!
It’s mostly bulls~~~. Supplement companies selling crappy byproducts of the dairy industry for silly prices.
Steroids work just fine, though. That’s what those dudes are taking.
Without those, you can only realistically gain 8-15 lbs of muscle a year, I’d say.
There are plenty of veggie/vegan guys who are ripped tae f~~~. Even world record holders like Patrik Baboumian. You can easily find veggie sources of complete protein.
Consumption of animal protein has it’s share of issues.
Careful not to f~~~ up your kidneys with it..gotta drink a lot extra water. ..flush that s~~~ out.
I generally take it after a workout because it takes less breaking down before your body uses. And I feel better; some of my workouts leave me very wiped. Blend with a banana, use milk, and it makes it taste a little better.
With that being said, this was put into perspective for me. Your body building muscle after you worked out takes days. Digesting a meal can take up to 36 hours. As long as your diet is rich in protein, your body will have protein to use when building.
The typical rule of thumb, if mass is what you are after, is 1 gram of protein per day per pound you weigh. If you weigh 180lbs then 180 grams of protein is what you would aim for. This still depends on what kind of gainer you are (easy or hard) and how often/intense your workouts are. This rule of thumb is a huge amount of protein. I have a hard time keeping up with it. If you want to try, the powders help achieve that number. Once again, this has all to do with the intensity of your workouts and your goals.
also be careful about your phytoestrogen intake
Stay away from soy products.
I wouldn’t recommend it, why is that?
Protein powder, energy supplements… are called “anabolics”Now…. let me give you an explanation of anabolics
First we need to know, what anabolic reactions are Anabolic reactions are the building of complex organic molecules from simpler ones.
Having said that, anabolics primary function is to build new organic molecules to the whole body and to give them form and structure (hint: Proteins) so you can gain muscular mass.
Now, let’s said you stop taking those anabolics… your body will start returning back to normal state (Yup, without all the muscular mass that you’ve gained) and after that you could experiment new alterations in your metabolism.
So, new question rises…. Why is that Sherlock?
Allow me to explain…. Anabolic reactions depend on catabolic reactions too… since they need to release heat to the enviroment and they also need to complete the ATP process (ATP: Adenosine Triphosphate). So, what you are basically doing with your body is this:
Exhibit A
Anabolic+ Anabolical reaction + Catabolical Reaction = ADP + unnecessary income of anabolics
Simple english: too much of anabolic reactions on your body that are unnecessary and could lead to an unstable balance (refer: Homeostasis)
Exhibit B (what your body should be doing)
Anabolical reaction + Catabolical Reaction = ADP + Pi + energy = ATP( Adenosine Triphosphate, the fundamental molecule that the human body needs for its daily activity)
Summary of this whole thing: ANABOLICS ARE BAD, A NO NO.

Protein powder ? YES.
Whey after your workout, casein before bed. A low fat protein to shred up, avoid mass builders unless you want to bulk. Ask a shredded guy at the gym what he is taking, because he is living with the results. Also consider:
Glutamine, Creatine, Greens, Multivitamin, Omega 3, Pre-workout.I hear a lot of people shrink over 2-3 months when they don’t take any I certainly don’t want that.
People shrink when they go off roids. There is no point in working out if you do not give your body the protein to repair itself. Your body does not grow in the gym, you are ripping your muscles during the workout, your body grows in the recovery in which you need protein. Rest and recovery are just as important as the workout.
Hotnoob said it well:best thing is to listen to your body. Ie, if your taking longer than 2-3 days to heal and rebuild, up your protein intake; eat healthier foods and so forth.
Because in order to be able to think, you have to risk being offensive.

I respect your opinion but… there is no need to take those anabolics as I explained myself previously. If you want to get proteins, then eat eggs, since it’s a natural way to add amino acids to the body and it won’t alter your metabolism.
My science, I guess you don’t know what steroids are, don’t you? Protein Powders are a form of steroids called Anabolics Steroids and again, the primary function of an anabolic is to add more anabolical reactions to the body which are USELESS

I’d like advice and opinion on using protein powders after an operation in order to speed tissue growth and reduce recovert time.
When I get back home I’m having a hip replaced, maybe both.
Cheers.
“Long is the way and hard, that out of Hell leads up to light.”
I’d recommend against protein powder for what the other guys are saying. Especially because of what @medicalscientist is saying.
Protein Powders are crap. Marketers get you believing they’re healthy and natural when in actuality they’re just as bad as processed foods.
The only difference being is that some processed foods actually taste good sometimes.
Also, @MG-ɹǝʍo┴ is right about the taste. I never tried it, but I assure you something like protein powders or cough syrup tastes like s~~~.
Not to mention protein powder is expensive as hell. I’d rather buy lots of natural proteins to last me the whole week. Things such as chickens, steaks, fish, etc. If you’re vegan, there’s plenty of protein sources as well. I just love bacon too much to give up meat.
Protein powder is a waste of money and pure s~~~. It is a poor replacement for food. Next time you are at the grocery store, read the ingredients and try to even pronouce half of them. Meal replacement bars are nasty to, once I looked up the ingredients for those and noticed something about one of the ingredients being related to gasoline or something disgusting like that. Food alone is just fine. I also don’t buy into the idea that people should be eating 1 gram of protein per bodyweight. Been there, tried that. All our bodies are different and only personal experiments with diet can determine what you actually need. Any source that says differently is probably looking to sale you something.
The main reason people use powders, are to make shakes for fast absorption of nutrients before and after workouts most important within the first 1/2 hour after a hard workout, something solid food cannot offer. The fast absorption also mean the body spend less time digesting food and more time repairing the muscle tissue, If made properly protein shakes taste awesome combined with fresh fruit, As far as i know there are no over the counter protein powders selling “Anabolic steroids” in them as they are illegal hahaha, and anyone who says that is a f~~~ing idiot and should pull their head out of their ass.
I need my hip-waders for this thread,
I never tried it, but I assure you something like protein powders or cough syrup tastes like s~~~.
Son, why are you making up such an opinion of something that you have never tried, purge this feminine trait from your soul.

This is just total bulls~~~. Protein powders have nothing to do with anabolic steroids.
Hollowtips, here is a link to the protein I recommend, supported by thousands of reviews:
