The word “society” as an entity that acts is fallacy as explained in the below-quoted post.  However, its general use, fallacious as it may be, is in my experience a valid indicator of female dictated norms.

Whenever “society” allegedly “wants”, “demands”, “expects”, or “forbids” something, or when something is done “as a society”, one would do well to presume that this norm is in place because females nagged, buffaloed, and bitched its way there.  While as a matter of procedure it is not satisfactory to shift the burden of proof upon the claimant, one must remember that the one who claimed something re. “society” is the claimant with an impossible burden of proof.  This semantic device is useful in articulating a command under threat of ostracism without revealing the source of said command.

[this BS is useful to ] command [men]under threat of ostracism without revealing the source of said command.”     IMO, this is correct. All too often, mental sloth manifests itself in NOT questioning, “who the eff gave that imperative and who gave them the authority to do so.”  One tactic, yes, ask the questions regarding this pressure and of course, the other is to just…walk. Walking is often the most effective option, but digging in verbally can be effective too.

"It seems like there's times a body gets struck down so low, there ain't a power on earth that can ever bring him up again. Seems like something inside dies so he don't even want to get up again. But he does."

Yup. Often heard example: “Chivalry is dead in our society these days”

    “Good”

    Keep walking.
