I thought I had a hard time finding a job when I was in my 20s. Now that I’m getting older, I wonder what my options are. It seems like older Americans need to have some specialized skills to get jobs with a decent paycheck. Since employers generally frown on older job applicants, I think it would be good to be self-employed, work as a consultant, work from home, teach classes, etc. I think it is important for people to have some retirement savings and investments when they work from age 20 to 50. That way, they don’t have to panic and take on menial jobs when they get laid off or fired.

The 20th century was the last era of long time job security in the USA. In those days, almost anyone with a high school diploma could start work for a major company, advance their career over 30 years, and collect a nice pension. If you had a union backing you up, that was even better. But now, companies get destroyed or swallowed up by their competition. Even long-standing Fortune 500 companies get killed by competition or poor management. You’re lucky to work for the same company for more than 5 years.

Isn’t it funny how college graduates can’t get hired because they lack work experience, yet older Americans can’t get hired because they are OVERQUALIFIED? The world doesn’t make any sense. But here’s some good news: it’s less challenging for older men (50+) to find a job than older women:

"I saw that there comes a point, in the defeat of any man of virtue, when his own consent is needed for evil to win-and that no manner of injury done to him by others can succeed if he chooses to withhold his consent. I saw that I could put an end to your outrages by pronouncing a single word in my mind. I pronounced it. The word was ‘No.’" (Atlas Shrugged)

Women of ALL ages are exceptionally useless in the workplace. After DECADES of trying to blend them into the workplace, employers are FINALLY seeing the results (lack thereof).
There are a FEW decent women, but the overwhelming majority of women in the workplace are utterly useless.
Women over 50? HA! The only skills they possess are: causing drama, slowing things down, complaining and EVENTUALLY pushing paper.

Older women have NEVER been of any use in the workplace and that’s BEFORE cell phones. It’s 10 times worse than it was before and employers know it. What makes it strange is I’m finding there are many places that will hire me now that wouldn’t hire me 25 years ago. It may not be a job I’m going to get rich at but it’s the truth. They’re very willing to hire me due to women being worthless and the young man that just simply doesn’t really want to work. Kind of funny how that works when you don’t need a job but a job is nowhere to be found if you’re desperate.

I hate all employers, because none of them will let me work and I have to be on government assistance. How am I suppose to give them the experience they want when they all turn me away? I hate the personality assessment test on the application, and if I’m lucky enough to get an interview, they ask me questions where no matter what answer I give them, they find a way to take it the wrong way. I think it’s stupid they make you take a personality test for minimal wage retail and grocery jobs. I know they want the right person for the job, but all they’ve done is make it more complicating and for what purpose; just to give job seekers a hard time?!

I may have better luck if I was a minority person; they never get denied jobs or anything they need.

That’s because someone’s probably paying for these women to sit around the house and do nothing or women inherited money from their dead husbands.
