I remember one woman hitting me in my arm when I wasnt paying attention to her. She knew I was abused by another woman the same way and she still did it. At the time I didn’t feel much about it, now thinking about it she did it to hurt me and/or blatantly didnt care about the fact that I might have had a negative reaction to being hit. As far as the actual OP’s situation, from my experience, those that do not get much attention from the opposite sex have a hard time gauging what level of interest you have. I learned along time ago that it’s best to avoid unattractive women as they will accuse you of leading them on if you’re nice to them. They believe that you were hitting on them (because men don’t normally talk to them, so what else could it be?) and then somehow used them because you didn’t follow through. You should have been more sensitive with their feelings.

This isn’t women, it’s men too, from what I’ve seen. Really, if a person interacts with them in a way that they are not used to, they don’t know what it means. How could you really? Nothing wrong with that, there’s just no reason to blame the other personal for knowing how you are used to interacting.
