This Photo of a Couple Dividing Up Their Beanie Babies in Divorce Court Is the Most ’90s Photo Ever

The image shows just how obsessed people were with these stuffed animals.

Back in n the ’90s, when Beanie Babies were at their peak popularity, some people went to ridiculous extremes to collect the stuffed animals — including this divorced couple.

Four months after their separation was finalized, the Las Vegas couple pictured below headed to court again to divide their Beanie Babies collection before a judge because they were unable to come to an agreement on their own, according to The Huffington Post. After all that, we hope former husband and wife can look back at this photo from 1999 and laugh.

Reuters estimated the combined collection of Beanie Babies to be worth around $2,500 to $5,000. Nowadays, the first stuffed animal to be selected from the group, Maple the Bear, is worth $6.34.

My, oh my, how the mighty have fallen!

Though most of the toys are only worth a few dollars each today, a select few have sold for some pretty outrageous amounts. “Peanut” the royal blue elephant sold for more than $3,000 at an auction in 2000, according to Ebay. And in 2015, one limited-edition Princess Diana Di Beanie Baby was listed on Ebay for nearly $25,000, according to The Daily Mail, though it’s unclear how much it actually sold for.

We’re sure you remember it well, but just in case you need a refresher, here’s how the mania began and ended: After launching in 1993, Beanie Babies grew from being popular toys to a full-blown obsession. People around the world bought the stuffed animals hoping their values would surge in the future, but it all came crashing down when the toy company announced that they would stop manufacturing the animals in 1999, according to Slate.

Nearly 25 years later, we bet almost everyone can look back on the time and think of a something they regret doing in the name of Beanie Babies.

    I can relate to that…

I wouldn’t want to split my 35000 CD/LP/VHS/DVD/SACD collection with some c~~~. Too much heartfelt work went into acquiring it and I would probably only want to part with the 700 (no longer used and not counted) audio cassettes, that were copies from the albums I own…

In July of 2018, this honey pot forum was sold out to an unidentified NPC sock puppet and troll organization. Most independent thinkers and writers migrated to other MGTOW forums as a result of the never-ending infighting and deliberate trouble starting caused by members who were given "carte blanche" by the admin to do whatever they want. Before my departure, I only left a few thousand cat pics here to comfort and ridicule the feminist owners who now run this place. Their background agenda is to make MGTOW look like a club of losers the public eye. And during the course of 2019, they actually managed to destroy almost all other MGTOW venues as well. Here is the truth about "theindependentman.org" aka "TIM" which was created as an extended workbench to further divide the community. Hell, I would turn all of these old tapes into tape salad and burn it in front of her door.

And also not counted are some 500 VHS Movies… And VHS cassettes – served as “tape salad” with gasoline as “dressing” stink for quite long.

I could only LOL at all those saps that thought beanie babies would “out do or be on par with” things like stocks and or gold in investing.

I’d like to see a picture juxtaposed next to that one showing them as a couple in marital bliss. How ridiculous!

Know when it is your duty to give them zero explanations for your actions.

I have one that a married woman bought me, quite why she thought a stuffed toy would be enough to tempt me to steal another mans wife is beyond me?
A set of Snap-On AF combination spanners would have been a more appropriate bribe.
