Offended forum posters wanting to quit MGTOW

I’m copying and pasting this from a reply I just made in another post because I think it needs attention.

I’ve seen a few guys feeling like they aren’t welcome in the forums lately.
There are good reasons for many of us to be skeptical of what we would call suspicious behavior, but certainly no reason for hostility just because we don’t like what someone has to say.

With what is now 25,000 members, all with the opportunity to post in the forums, we are very likely to find disagreement here.
Some of the reasons guys (usually younger guys) give is no more than mild annoyance at reading childish or rambling posts. That’s common with younger people who haven’t developed a coherent writing style.

I think we have been blessed previously with a lot of guys who write eloquently and inspire all of us to emulate them whenever we can. Naturally, some of what I would call “Facebook-style” writing is quite off-putting, at least to me, anyway.
Frequent writers in the forums usually attract like-minded readers, unless a particular forum poster is seen as off-putting.

We all eventually recognize the ones who make frivolous or offensive posts, so let’s just try to get in the habit of avoiding the posters we don’t like to see, and enjoy and appreciate the ones we do like to see. Simple as that. If you don’t like someone’s posts, just avoid opening their threads. No good comes from trash-talking them. Constructive criticism ought to be welcome, though, as long as it’s helpful.

With 25,000 posters, there are going to be plenty to choose from. I usually don’t have time to read all of the newest posts already, so I just pick the ones I’m likely to have an interest in. Kinda like a newspaper. I read the articles I want to read and ignore the rest.

Makes lot of sense, now while we are at it speaking of keeping it neat would you be all for more buttons like other sites have? Some have dislike and report abuse?

If there is tension between me and another brother, due to different point of views, the very first thing I do is identify and comment about at least ONE GOOD quality in this brother. I would then share my perspective, followed by a peace out, to finish off on a good note.

What if someone has had a medical problem or may not have been fortunate to have a good education . I really think looking down on people for this is of putting .

I really don’t care how eloquent ones writing is . I can figure out what there saying .

We are all men from different demographics, culture and i will throw in humor .

I think compliments are a good way to dispense criticism if it’s an earned compliment.

I think disliking and reporting is passive-aggressive and isn’t a healthy way to have a brotherhood. Be honest or just don’t like or comment if you dislike.

These are only my opinions.
Do whatever you want, but don’t ruin the party for everybody else.
That’s all I’m suggesting.

@ Blade: Yep. The whole point is if you don’t like it, just ignore it and move on. Nobody is dispensing rules, just suggestions to readers, themselves, so they will enjoy the forums better.

Personally speaking….I like it ALL. Even if someone disagrees with me, and there is tension, it is an opportunity to build up my patience and equanimity.

I don’t see the point of adding buttons such as those. If a man writes something you disagree with, you either ignore it or write a reply in which you state why he’s wrong (in your opinion). You don’t get off easy by ramming a “dislike” or “abuse” button, which forces KM to come down from his golden throne and see who messed up 😛

All good points.

I also find ‘txtspk’ or otherwise badly written posts annoying.

I am however aware that some posters may not be well educated or well-read. This is not necessarily their fault – we know only too well that the educational system is heavily rigged against boys.

That’s why older posters (who predate the current educational regime), are usually more articulate.

I am also aware that Red Pill rage can render otherwise articulate people practically incoherent, so some leeway needs to be shown there, too.

The comments here can be harsh and brutal and not always about what brought us here in the first place. I admit even I felt like dropping the boards entirely.

Like for instance, the last time I felt pretty upset over the comments here, was the absolute hatred towards tattoos which kind of left a sour taste in my mouth considering that I have several of my own.

However, the last thing I want is censorship or any kind of PC culture. F~~~ that. I appreciate everyone’s opinions here even if I vehemently disagree.

I didn’t come here necessarily to make buddies but I love the wisdom the people here have brought me from men much older and more experienced than myself.

Well chaps I’m a recent joiner. I understand that in my past life (read never happening again now I have freedom) I’ve been foolish. In fact I’ve been beyond stupid. But like Keanu in The Matrix, I’ve had my eyes well and truly opened. I’ve heard some bad stories. I’m now plugged in and ready to move on with life.

You have 20minutes to repair, correct, and amend a post so it reads the way you want it to read then it’s engraved in stone, unlike others where you can retract everything even months later. This leads to threads so shot full of holes they’re not even worth the read, making the over all site “here today, gone tomorrow, making links that other site have to quote threads null, void, and useless.

I’ve been quoted by other writers on different sites and those links are still live, active, and accurate.
