As I was on my way out this morning(I work nights) administration stopped me on the way by their door and asked me who I was. I told them and when they found out I had been working in the facility for almost 10 years they looked dumbfounded. They looked even more shocked when 4 other employees said hello to me while passing by within 2 minutes. I was late in leaving which is the only reason why administration saw me. They told me they have seen my signature on reports and documents over the years but never put a face to it. I asked them if they needed anything because I had some place to be. (I was going to the gym but still dressed in my work clothes). They told me no and I told them to have a nice day.

I went to the gym and was laughing all the way there on the drive. Now they probably think they are not doing their job by not knowing who I was. Especially when everybody else that passed by knew who I was but them. Today was just a reminder to leave on time before the brass gets there. Looks like it’s time to take a vacation so they forget about me. Out of sight. Out of mind.

    Good job.

What made it somewhat interesting is I believe they were actually interested in talking to me. I wouldn’t have any of it. All they do is take the information you gave them and do everything they can to use it against you. In all places of employment administration needs to be kept on a need-to-know basis. THEY DON’T NEED TO KNOW. The type of position I hold gives me all kinds of time to learn things about the place I work in because I work nights and weekends. Nobody is around to stop me from learning. Needless to say I have dirt on everybody and have never used it. If I told administration just 10% of what I know they would totally freak out and want me gone. I promise. If they ever learned that I could basically sink anybody in the facility they would find a way to get rid of me. I have less than a year left before I make my exit. In my employment situation you either die a hero or you stick around long enough to become the villain. I will continue to ghost until I make a quiet exit next year.

Good grey manning. Ghosting is great. I even like ghosting where they know who I am, see me a lot etc, but get not an OUNCE of personality from me. Ghosting in plain sight. Make them think you’re the most boring person on Earth, or more likely they know you’re not a ‘boring person’ rather you’re just withholding everything from THEM. It’s powerful.

    This is wisdom!

I agree that ghosting is the best way to go. I work away from the main office where I am employed and I like being offsite! I don’t have to deal with the office politics or the drama there. Most of my co-workers are women too. At best, I make cameo appearances at the main office and that is more than fine with me. Out of sight, out of mind is an excellent way to go. It is not that I have anything to hide, it is just that I don’t want to be on the radar unnecessarily.

Course, I have found the best way to ghost and to disappear, is ironically, to do it in plain sight!
