Is the complaint about not enough women in STEM, coming from guys in STEM who are tired of office parties being sausagefests?
Nope. In everything I’ve been involved with the focus is on “The Project”. It’s a relationship between professionals, not a relationship between genders. In other words, with STEM you have your team on one side, a goal on the other, and some set of challenges in between. The ONLY thing people really care about is reaching that goal. We don’t get modern advanced technology because the people involved are preoccupied by something as asinine as a “sausage fest”.
I asked about this, because I have worked in the IT industry, and the computer side would want to have more women there. It was complaints also in technical colleges I attended, the lack of women about. Maybe other context is different so I asked.

Anonymous14I think some of you guys misunderstood the topic I wanted to discuss in my opening post. Its not why there aren’t enough women in STEM fields. The facts of that matter are established well beyond reproach and even women have started accepting it.
What I wanted to say is, why should women be entitled special opportunities to join STEM fields when all most of them end up doing is waging a propaganda war against the male gender with their absurd distorted pseudo-scientific hypotheses like those males are usually deadbeat dads in every species theories.
Watch the documentary film Particle Fever(2013) if you haven’t already, its about the ongoing CERN’s Large Hadron Collider experiments attempting to discover the nature of the elusive Higgs Boson and other particles predicted by the supersymmetry theory. One of the stars of this documentary is a postdoc student Monica Dunford working in the Atlas experiment, one of the seven particle detectors at the LHC. Now I have every respect for her as she is obviously a brilliant physicist and one of the thousands of the hardworking staff at CERN.
But something she said while talking about her past and how she came to be there really made my wonder if my respect for her was misplaced. She revealed how easy was it for her to make the switch to science and get her degrees(yaay feminism) and then she said she chose to work at the LHC because she thinks theoretical physics is boring and it sucks.
I just couldn’t believe my ears. What? Theoretical physics sucks? Oh okay. Let me see now, there is another group of people in history who also thought that theoretical physics sucked. And they are..yeah you guessed it..the Nazis. 🙂
The Nazis considered theoretical physics Jewish physics because of the most eminent theoretical physicists of that time were mostly Jewish like Albert Einstein, Niels Bohr etc. That is why Werner Heisenberg, one of the most eminent German theoretical physicists of that time who was also a patriot kept trying to educate students and the German scientific community, in almost all his lectures the importance of theoretical physics even with great personal risk. He was even arrested and interrogated by the gestapo for 10 hours for that yet he never relented.
You see, there is no physics without theoretical physics because everything and I mean everything starts off as a theory at first. And there we have this woman saying that it sucks and is boring. Einstein, Bohr, Heisenberg are all Noble prize recipients, maybe they should give this lady two. One for theorising that theoretical physics sucks and the other for being a woman. And considering its given by Sweden, well that’s not too far fetched an idea.
Well, there I go mansplaining again. But since there are no cameltoes in here I guess I won’t be crucified for it. 😉
