    Non birthing parent. The can’t even say the word fathers.

    Dow Chemical Co. is fattening the paid leave it gives employees after the birth of a child as it becomes the latest major U.S. employer to rethink how it treats parents.

    The Midland-based creator of Ziploc bags and Saran Wrap said Wednesday that mothers will receive a minimum of 12 weeks of paid leave, while nonbirthing parents can get two weeks. That’s up from six to eight weeks and one week, respectively.

    This leave can be taken in the 12 months after a child’s birth, and the change applies to all of the company’s 53,000 employees worldwide.

    This terminology exists to open the oportunity for lesbian couples to have children and be entitled to the same rights to leave as their male/female counterparts. So one of the carpet munchers gets banged up via artificial insemination and the other puts on a fake beard and pretends to be dady.

    Dow probably had to pay a consultant divercity expert a lot of money to come up with the phrase “non birthing parent” but that is the price of political corectness, a cost which will be passed on to the consumer no doubt. The other cost of PC, the erosion of societies values, will be felt in due course.

    I hate companies like Dow that have an army of HR people who are over the top PC and engaged in hardcore employee social engineering.
    That’s one of those companies where you have to wear a hardhat and safety glasses just to pick up a trailer from their outdoor lot, just because studies show that over-the-top “safety first” mentality promotes increased productivity.

    Sounds like the modern family. It be interesting to see what happens for gay couples. I guess that means they both get 2 weeks. What happens in the case of adoption? Does that not count if the adoption doesn’t happen at birth?
