Agreed, drill everywhere.

I also find it interesting how people believe that O&G companies need to be heavily regulated as they can’t be trusted to consider safety on their own. The last thing these companies want is an accident. It destroys them in PR and financially. In terms of safety of the employees, they care more about that then the employees do.

That’s not even taking into account the fact that companies are run by humans who do have some compassion for their fellow coworkers.

Its hard to forget the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. Offshore drilling is complex and the potential for environmental disaster is not insignificant.

The no drilling off the coast of Florida might be worth the trade off for the favor. The Governor of Florida begged the White House not to open up oil drilling off the coast of the Florida and the White House accepted the request. Now the Governor of Florida owes the White House a favor. It is likely the White House will cash in on this favor by doing a through cleaning of the election roles in Florida.
