Two weeks until season starts!
I am a huge sports fan. As an intellectual I see professional sports as the ultimate paradox: It is both meaningful and meaningless. It is meaningful because people care about it and will bleed for their team, but its also meaningless because its not like if my team wins cancer will be cured or something, it just IS, pure entertainment.
I love the NFL on Sundays, I gorge on football all day, drink beer and eat tasty snacks, while doing all my laundry and chores for the week during the commercials and half time.
I know if I was married or had a girlfriend I might be able to watch the odd game, but I wouldn’t be “Allowed” to indulge in a 10 hour orgy of sports each Sunday, and then the Monday and Thursday night games.
Maybe football isn’t your thing. If so, what time intensive hobbies do you enjoy that wouldn’t be possible on the plantation?
(Please no Colin Kapernick comments on this thread… I am opening a separate thread for that B.S.)
I am a Cin Bengals fan. I have mixed feelings on the situation, but I will enjoy the games that I can watch for free. It is always fun to have a few beers, talk some crap and eat some sliders, wings and whatever.
I live to watch NFL but being english football(soccer) is my game.we do the same, can watch football all day on a sunday and no woman wanting to go shopping or moaning in your ear!
I like English Football too…. and almost no commercials! Crazy the kind of shape footballers have….
Seattle Seahawks fan here! (we should have ran the ball)
The single biggest threat to your happiness is women and the only way to win is to not play the game
Yeah but I somewhat understand Pete’s decision. He overthought the play… was worried if they ran and didn’t get it they would only have the one time out… he shoudl have gone with the best play to score.
I am looking forward to this season and hoping my Giants have a winning season and reach the playoffs. Eli has just a few years left tops.
I used to love her but I had to kill her.....GNR
I’m not THAT into football, but I do enjoy it from time to time.
The man might be taken out of Florida, but Florida isn’t taken out of the man.
Pats fan here! And before you rip my head off I have been so for over 20 years pre-Brady. I am hopping they can face off in the Superbowl again and we beat you this time! I do want to say this, however, I don’t think Tom Coughlin has ever got the credit he deserves for the coaching performance in both superbowls they beat the Pats. You have to manage the clock to beat them and his game plan for doing so was brilliant.

Rough start to the season the other night against the Chiefs! I’m sure Belichick and Brady will figure it out though and the Pats will make another deep playoff run (as always)
