Greetings everyone. I haven not been exactly active for the past couple of months since I was busy.

So to recap. I went to UK 6 months ago. In this time I managed to find a place, get a car and land me a permanent job in a warehouse. Not glorious but I can pay my bills easy. Since I am only working 40 hours per week it is time to make some long term plans. I want something more lucrative. I do not intend to stay on a minimum wage. So I was wondering to try and get a job in “gasp” real estate. Since I am very hard worker, get along with people and I am pretty good at the whole IT thing I was thinking that this might be the right path for me.
So my planning is this. I am working 4 days a week. That leaves me 3 days a week to do some sort of internship in estate agency to learn the ropes and getting my foot in the real estate business. I know that at the start it is s~~~ wage for a lot of work. But in a long term I think could be quite beneficial. And when I am making a decent wage I could buy real estate back home where is much, much cheaper and just rent them out.
So my question is this. Is anyone here into real estate? Can someone give me some guidance on how should I tackle my next big thing?

Cheers everyone and now I am going to be a bit more active around here.

Well I know that if you wish to become some sort of real estate agent in Canada or at least in the province where I live, you might have to take a six month course to teach you on a lot of things like the laws of the province and other stuff. I doubt that you can take the real estate agent course in the province where I live, and then go to another province and still be a real estate agent with that same education due to the law differences probably. The advice I can tell you maybe is that it doesn’t hurt to read books in real estate investing which is probably a sort of course in a finance degree to help you understand a bit more about how to invest in your future real estate business wiser. Sorry if I did not help you with the exact answer that you are looking for.

edit:If you wish to learn more about the real estate laws of where you live, if it is anything like Canada, you can actually learn about the rights of the owners and the tenants through a governmental web site of where you live. I hope this helps.

Housing bubble is close bursting globally, worth keeping in mind.

If you’re good at IT find a local small time support job and work your way up / learn more as you go.

Besides I’m fairly certain the realestate is over run by woman.

I thought what I'd do was I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes...or should I?

    Real estate inspector here….

If you get into real estate sales, do it with the understanding that it (at least in the US) is a predominately female field. I can’t tell you the number of times an agent has related to me how catty their times in the office are. Don’t forget to factor YOUR gender into that equation.

A portion of my business is based on referral from RE agents….and they are, to say the least, the most fickle bunch of associates I’ve ever dealt with. I provide a report to clients based on codes, fact and over 15 years of experience and I get a rash of crap from agents based on emotion, feelings and what their dads, boyfriends or husbands told them.

If you make the leap, be mentally armed.

To be a successful RE agent you need to be a pretty woman, a gypsy, or have a personality of a sleazy con-artisty used car salesman. You need to lie and smile non stop without any second thoughts or guilty conscience. If you’re not like that – stay away.
Also, most RE agents I know do it as a second job or they’re stay at home moms – it’s hard to make it your primary and stable source of income
