    _______________________

New Jersey is set to become the third state to raise its smoking age to 21, after Republican Gov. Chris Christie signed a bill Friday that hikes the minimum age to buy tobacco products from 19.

We “are giving young people more time to develop a maturity and better understanding of how dangerous smoking can be and that it is better to not start smoking in the first place,” Christie said in a statement. “My mother died from the effects of smoking, and no one should lose their life due to any addictive substance.”
A reduction in smoking-related health problems also would ease the strain on the state’s health care system, Christie said.

Hawaii, in 2015, became the first state to do so. California followed suit a year later. A bill that raises the minimum age to 21 to purchase tobacco products in Oregon is awaiting the signature of Gov. Kate Brown, a Democrat.

Raising the minimum age to 21 nationwide would result in almost 250,000 fewer premature deaths and 45,000 fewer lung cancer deaths among people born between 2000 and 2019, a 2015 study by National Institute of Medicine found.

So now fools are 21 years old in New Jersey? I think I’ll smoke again when I’m incinerated at ground zero, why not?

We “are giving young people more time to develop a maturity and better understanding of how dangerous smoking can be …

So people are old enough to drive, old enough to vote for oppressive dumbfúcks, old enough to bang away like animals, old enough to go shooting, but don’t have the maturity to decide if they wanna smoke. Got it, fat boy – good thing Christie is mature enough to know weighing 350 lbs is good for his health.

“My mother died from the effects of smoking, and no one should lose their life due to any addictive substance.”

I love the heartstring BS there … if fatfúck’s mommy had died in a car wreck she caused, should everyone have their licenses restricted?

A reduction in smoking-related health problems also would ease the strain on the state’s health care system, Christie said.

And there we have it. Crispy Creme was one of the shítheads to embrace Oblowhardcare and his health budget is busting faster than his girdle, and so everybody’s rights get restricted. Now let’s all mandate everyone run 3 miles a day and the state track it to improve our heart condition and ease the strain on the state’s health care system.

    Yeah …. no.

If you are MGTOW when you are young you have no heart.
If you're not MGTOW when you are 20 you have no brain.

Why? Legal age for smoke should be 9 years.

    Drinking? 7 years

    Drugs? All legal. ALL

Yeah, because 2 whole f~~~ing years will make a lot of difference to someone’s maturity. Some people never mature past childhood despite their physical age.

So does this mean that the following will be raised to 21 as well?

    Age of Majority
    Age of Induction (draft)
Min Age for voluntary military service
    Drivers Permits
    Marriage Permits
    Age of consent
    Voting privileges
    Legal drinking age
Legal Age to cross state/country lines (cross border travel)
Min age to begin political “careers”
Age at which you choose your gender

Nope, it is just another means of collecting revenue for various levels of government.

The legal age to drink and gamble is 21. What’s the big deal about smoking at 21?

It will be just as effective as all the other ‘drug laws’ and prohibition.

Personally, I believe I should be able to self-prescribe any medication and go get it right now, including opioids. When I tell people that, they’re aghast. They also struggle with why I might have such views when they know I do not smoke, drink, or use recreational drugs.

My usual response to their indignation? I tell them that’s how it once was… when this was a free country. And we seemed to get along okay. I then mention the huge boost organized crime got with prohibition due to bootlegging,

I then drive the stake in further by saying we once could own property when it was a free country, without renting it from the State through excessive property taxes, buying it back so to speak every couple decades. Where I live you buy it back from the State every 30 years or so.

Gotta chime in on this. As a non smoker I don’t care either way.

    As a citizen –
If at 18 years old you are old enough to die for your country you are old enough to pick what you want to do. So really age for everything should be 18.

We have to stop this lowest common denominator BS. Some people will be stupid at any age and nothing will change that. And people that want to smoke underage can do it, its not like its that hard to their hands on.

Also I’m all for legalizing Marijuana and taxing it. At least that way people are paying taxes for stuff they want to do. Course I also believe income tax should be eliminated and all tax should be on consumer items. But that’s just my 2cents worth.

Hope that someday I may lead others the path I have learned. As Virgil led Dante through Hell.

F~~~ the government imposing more control on our lives. It is not the states goddamn business what i do with my own body as the bulls~~~ is pushing for safety (or their illusion of it) over freedom.

Of course the truth is that cigarettes will just be another black item market for people to buy as minors already get alcohol underage and now cigarettes will be their next thing. Simply put it they will buy it from someone older who is willing to sell it to them.

Or if they like me they will just get it from their brother.

Just an east coast asshole who likes to curse, If you get offended by words like fuck, cunt, shit, piss, bitch or any racial slurs then you just scroll down.

Smoking is worse than drinking so I don’t really care. You can drink yourself unconscious but every puff of cigarette smoke you exhale is unfiltered smoke for anyone else who breaths it. You’re more vulnerable as a non smoker around smokers than the actual smoker is.
