I am updating my massive entertainment build for the living room, I want to make a cinema in my in my living room.
I am looking for my MGTOW brothers input on a 25k set up I’ll be painting the screen for the projector, and I’ll be buying new couches with cup holders and I’ll be working my surround sound speakers into the ceiling and led lights under the crown moldings it’s gonna look kick ass.
I need a really good PC build along with any tips you can give me for this type of set up.
I’ll also be getting a virtual reality headset but not sure what I want I’m leaning Oculus Rift.

Look into having a project system with multiple outputs. That way you can use the computer for something use while watching a video on a player or playing a console video game.
The hype around VR is just that hype. Wait until Oculus Rift is on discount and then buy it.
For your PC. Start Mid level with up-gradable parts. Today’s top of the line is tomorrow’s discount bin.
The main question do you want a standalone or laptop. Standalone is good for cost, laptop is good for mobile. But, for buying computers it is best to build you own and for a beginner that means getting a standalone to start with.
But, that does mean the OS is going to cost a bit.
Also, you need to wear latex or the like gloves and use non-magnetic screws and tools for you computer case as you put together you computer.
If you know someone that knows how to work with computers that will help you for free, get their help.
Do research before you do anything.
And good luck.
Thanks for the info Faust, that’s the only headache with PC is that everything is outdated by the time it gets to your house and you put it together lol

Not that quickly. Medium to high end will last five to six years. Which is not bad. Also, back up you date regularly onto data discs CD/DVD/Blu-Ray. These formats are resistant to electronic damage. Though, keep the discs out of sunlight, in a dry room, with a moderate temperature.

A thread ripper with 32gb of ram and two 1080ti also make sure you have maximum airflow.
A MGTOW is a man who is not a woman's bitch!
Custom build your rig here.
Depending on other factors you could probably get away with:
AMD Threadripper
or
Intel i516gig ram
Do a 250gig SSD M.2 for boot
Then a 7200rpm 1Tb drive for storage.Video card Nvidia 1070.
It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion, it is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning; it is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.
I’m going to see back to this thread once I’m ready for tech, I will be custom building the stands and shelving across the walls, it’s gonna looks so boss

Buy yourself a pre-build gaming PC, don’t build your own as miners have pushed GPU prices way above MSRP. It’s actually cheaper to buy a pre-built. I’d recommend an Origin, Digital Storm or Alienware gaming PC based around a 1080Ti GPU and the new i7 quadcore 8000 series CPUs especially if you’re going to do VR. You’ll also want 16gb of RAM, there’s no point going more than that for gaming but less than that can in VR anyway have a negative impact. You might also want to consider having a large spindle hard drive and a smaller SSD drive . Use the SSD for Windows boot and games that are multiplayer focused so you can get in faster. Store documents/pictures/videos & single player games on your larger spindle drive.
For Rift specifically you will need 3 USB3 ports just for VR and one HDMI port on the GPU. So if the GPU only has one HDMI ports, make sure you get a Display Port dongle to utilize one of the DP plugs on your GPU to whatever inputs your screen has whether that’s also display port which i’d recommend as it’s refresh rate is fastest, or HDMI. You can’t use a splittler.
Also think about sensor placement. If you want to do 2 sensor 360degree, you’ll need one sensor in the front corner and one sensor in the opposite/diagonal rear corner of your play space. So you will no doubt need an ACTIVE usb3 extension cable or one of your sensors. If you want more cable on your HMD, if you go more than 10 feet you will need an HDMI repeater, and another USB3 active extension cable.
I”m also a Rift owner so I know a few of the pitfalls new owners including myself fall into getting setup.
That is a lot of money !! If you are tired of the cucked-flix, search for “plex”, is a media center that you can host in your own house. Just like netflix but without lag, without s~~~ content (you put whatever you want there). The only thing that it costs is a lot of disk to store the data, but since you got money, it isn’t a problem. Check this out
With about 20tb of storage, you can for sure have everything that you would watch on netflix + things that will never be there. Other brothers here covered about everything that is needed, the other things will depend on what you will use your computer for.
I would love to make a living off of building desktop PCs. I tried to build a gaming rig 2 years ago so I can sell it on eBay. I ended up losing money and a year trying to sell it. I was VERY disappointed.

I seen people that make detailed spec builds and part lists for people in pdf format with pictures, and charges like $150 or more per package. Cool little side biz for you bro.
You can even outsource the work to an overseas virtual assistant firm in India and add your mark up by 30-50%
