    woot!

    new computer HP Spectre
    touch screen
    light pen

I’ve been using one note last week and this week and it is freaking amazing
the things this program can do just blows me away…handwriting to text, add links tables, ppt, xl spreadsheets and photos

So I’ll try going paperless for notes. so far so good, until it all fails and I have no notes. hmmm back up drive might be a good idea.

OneNote is good for Windows PCs. Syncs with your Hotmail/Outlook account.

Oh, come on, my computer is from the turn of the century! Like a car with fenders! It’s a classic! There’s more dirt, dust, and cobwebs on the motherboard than an abandoned 1880 mine! I call it com-u-patina!

Congrats, May 7. What are the specs on your new system? The Spectres are pretty sweet.

Don’t forget to go in and alter your privacy settings. You can’t turn ALL of the Big Brother stuff off, of course, but you can make life easier on yourself.

Here’s a good article from PCWorld on how to properly change your privacy settings.

Also, I would normally recommend using LibreOffice as an alternative to Microsoft Office but you should be able to get a copy of that ridiculously cheap through the university if you haven’t already.

    Good for you!

I think your life will get better each year. Keep up the good work. I’m looking forward to your celebration 3 years from now. I think my life will be much better too.

The mentioned 486 is NOT the new computer sent to PistolPete. It was manufactured during this decade at least!

Good call May7, you don’t know the opportunity cost of an old computer in your classes. Using current/cutting edge hardware/software ensures that you will at least be current upon graduation. Then Moores Law will have finally caught up with you. Have fun.

the ability to take notes on one giant piece of paper, and able to link my classes documents to one note is awesome…also a lot of my books are online and so I split the screen, read notes and write at the same time, cut and paste sections and insert into notes, then if I have a question I email the prof right there same screen. Amazing. I see kids typing notes in class, and they think they are the s~~~. Everyone else is taking paper notes.

there is a handwriting to math that will solve math problems for me as well. Absolutely mindblowing, I’m in a military history class, I have my notes and a copy of the DOD Dictionary and Associated terms open, and the book as well as other history sites. I have a photography class, I have the online book split with one note, and my photos in the background, and I surf the net and insert the photos from the internet of the ones on the big screen in lecture. Math, one note for notes, online book, calculator, and a tutorial site.

oh as a side note, 486 chips are still used today, in phone systems for businesses, stuff with less than 50 lines and extensions. lol I used to sell those systems.

I am still using the old broken laptop with a few broken key’s (like the Y key for example is not on right as it can move around but it functions just enough, while the control key has been stripped completely from the keyboard).

Either way i am using this laptop till it catches on fire basically or the internet just cannot be accessed anymore (like what happened with the machines with windows 98).
