New California declares “independence” from rest of state

With the reading of their own version of a Declaration of Independence, founders of the state of New California took the first steps to what they hope will eventually lead to statehood. CBS Sacramento reports they don’t want to leave the United States, just California.

“Well, it’s been ungovernable for a long time. High taxes, education, you name it, and we’re rated around 48th or 50th from a business climate and standpoint in California,” said founder Robert Paul Preston.

The state of New California would incorporate most of the state’s rural counties, leaving the urban coastal counties to the current state of California.

I declare my own state, which is… Idontgivafukastan. I expect everyone to honor its sovereignty. If they don’t, then I will go pout and act like a special snowflake (yeah, like I don’t do that already). People can do whatever they damn well want, or try to. It doesn’t mean it happened. I am reminded of update NY whining about what happens in NYC and how it affects tax rates and so on, ignoring the reality that NYC is the bulk of tax revenue for NY.

There is an irony in America that those states getting the most tax dollars back, are the ones who demand less government.

All this being said, California is a mess.

SWEET! It’s always been a place for people with DV orders to run to for safety.

You are all alone. If you have been falsely accused of RAPE, DV, PLEASE let all men know about the people who did this. http://register-her.net/web/guest/home

Count me in if they have the gun laws of a free state because right now it is horrible and I wish I could move immediately.

This is a bad idea. The reason for the move is legit, but it’s a bad idea to create a state that has no real population centers in it. Despite the liberal politics, you need it for your economy.

Just look at the other 50 states. The ones that are least ‘successful’ are the ones with few cities and low populations.

Instead, why not look to shift power so the counties have control over local governing? This is what the electoral college was created for. Vote for governor and other state positions based on one vote for county instead of a straight population vote. At the same time, you’ll start decentralizing power from the state level down to the county level, since the liberal cities won’t stand to be told what to do by the rural folks.

    Ok. Then do it.

Decades ago Upper Michigan, northern Wisconsin and Minnesota counties floated the idea of creating a new state called Superior. It never went anywhere. I don’t recall if it was a lack of a tax base, but anyway after the initial fervor, the idea died and never was resurrected as far as I know. I agree with narwhal that it is a bad idea.

If they’re going to do that , i think they’d be better off cutting it in half between NorCal and SoCal. NorCal would get sac, san fran and Oakland. SoCal would get LA, San Diego and San Burnadino

That way a good mix of Urban, Rural and city centers. Doesn’t really make sense to me to break it up as shown on the blue/gold map.

I think it’s basically a political boundry, all the ‘blue’ territores on that map vote one way and all the yellow territories vote the other way. Unfortuniatly the yellow ones have most the population so their choice is weighted higher and that’s the way the state goes, what the blue territories vote is irrelevant.

I think this could turn out to be a good thing! California is a largely conservative State being driven entirely by the radical leftist strongholds along the coast. In election after election, the blind liberals along the coast have given their 54 electoral votes to the worst of Presidential candidates ever since Slick Willy established the “blue wall” in the 1992 General Election.

If these poltroons manage to create their own State, they will be left to their own devices to suffer the ramifications that progressive liberalism presents…abhorrently high tax rates (even higher than they are now), crime waves of epic proportions (worse than they are experiencing at the moment), an entire segment of the land mass that will ALL be sanctuary for illegals and gang members, and the rest of the State won’t have to suffer this. In fact, I would go so far as to say that the border wall should already be blocking out this entire section of the State.

I’ll admit, I loved California (except for its blind liberalism and extremely high cost of living) and its natural beauty along the coast. But it is no longer a jewel of North America…now, it is rather a malignant growth that needs to be ripped out. Why is California such a costly State in which to live? Because there are easily about twenty-thirty million nondocumented immigrants collecting on a variety of social services that can only be compensated by high property taxes. Let the liberals have their little piece of wonderland and watch them destroy themselves. And break out the popcorn! Maybe now the rest of California will be recognized as the traditionally red State that it always has been.

Bakersfield, CA is a conservative city and has population of 363,000…

All my life I've had doubts about who I am, where I belonged. Now I'm like the arrow that springs from the bow. No hesitation, no doubts. The path is clear. And what are you? Alive. Everything else is negotiable. Women have rights; men have responsibilities; MGTOW have freedom. Marriage is for chumps.
