Need some advice. I had to get a new apartment for health reasons. I found a 4plex… I’m bottom with neighbor above and neighbor next door. I have a great sound system that I can’t apparently use at any time of day according to neighbors. There is a woman next door riding the disability train so she’s always home. There is a couple above with a twenty something unemployed male living off of some chick. When I first moved in I was greeted by the next door neighbor who has a herd of land whales, and one living with her which is a breach of the rental agreement. I was asked to not say anything to the landlord. One of the land whales is hooked up with a meth addicted gang banger. There are always several landwhales next door at any given time. I was told which other tenants were cool and which weren’t. It turns out all the cool ones are a pain in the ass, and the uncool one I haven’t heard anything from. I used to have a couple hours a day to listen to music because neighbors actually worked for a living. The first mistake I made was to give the neighbor upstairs my phone number if my music was too loud. Sure enough every night a text message to turn it down. Out of politeness I asked when it would be convenient to listen to some music. He said 10 am to 10 pm then sent a text that night that said I know I said 10pm, but let’s make it 8pm. The lease agreement is unclear about decibel levels just that it needs to go down between 10pm and 7am. Washington State revised code allows 55db until ten then it drops to 45db. I’ve even gotten a text message asking me to turn down my tv after 10 because it’s too loud and that was without the sound system on. This guy goes to California for a week and so I take the opportunity to open it up a bit during the day. I get a text message at 4:30 in the afternoon telling me I need to “severely” lower the volume because they just got back and need rest. This lead me to break out the decibel meter yesterday around 11am and while I was hunting for the legally allowed 55db I get a knock on the door. It was the alpha wannabe trying to assert his alpha-ness with the landwhale who’s breaking the lease agreement. She says ‘My Mom can’t take it anymore’ and the alpha-Gina stating I can listen to music but I have to turn off the bass.

I like to play nice when I can, and I’m not normally very assertive, but these people may be asking for more than they have a right to. I’m debating whether to sell this stuff and get into headphones, or tell the alpha wannabe to lose my number because I will always keep the decibels with in the Washington revised code limit. If it’s 55db at the listening position then it’s less at his. If he can hear my tv over his to turn his up because I refuse to ride the volume. I’m older and already have hearing loss so am reluctant to do headphones and it isn’t the same experience as speakers. Just curious what people would do in my situation. Right now I’m viewing this as intimidation with a smile to keep the newcomer in line. I’m aware that no one likes the asshole who won’t turn down the bass, just want a couple hours when most people are working to relax and listen to some music.

I also f~~~ing hate people knocking on my door. I have to figure this out because I need to keep my blood pressure down, and this s~~~ is pure stress to me.

Use headphones until you can find a way to move to a place that does not share walls with neighbors.

Society asks MGTOWs: Why are you not making more tax-slaves?

funnily enough was just talking to someone at work about this exact subject. Realistically how loud do you have your music? I honestly find nothing more annoying than having loud music coming through the walls and at the moment only have neighbours above and apart from hearing them have sex at night (very unpleasant) they are absolutely fine so I keep my Xbox’ing to reasonable levels as some of those games get loud!

I did consider giving upstairs my number when I walked in so they could text me to say my TV is too loud if it ever was but decided against it and after reading the above I’m pleased I made that choice.

If I were you I would put the music on and then ask to go into their places to see how it sounds – if it genuinely is coming through the walls (it might be) then you know you are in the wrong but if it is barely audible then they are being dicks and you need to ignore them and keep something handy by the door incase mr wannabie turns up again and tries to cause trouble

I used these with my stereo then used them with my computer when I started listening to pandora and whatnot.  Good quality.  Internal batteries last 3 years.

    Wireless Headphones

It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion, it is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning; it is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.

Honestly, if you’re within the law, don’t bother turning it down – just tell anyone else to sod off if they’re being unreasonable. And if the land whale gives you any trouble you can always threaten to report her to the landlord for violating her lease! If you have a legal right to do it I see no reason not to. Just dont exeed the 55db.

This is the only thing in your post that matters. If you enjoy f~~~ing with your neighbors, continue to use the stereos within the bounds of the law. If you don’t want to be bothered by these idiots, pick up a pair of wireless headphones.

The question is, is reducing your stress worth $80?

When you live close to people, you really have to respect their right to peace and quiet. I am not saying you have to tiptoe on eggshells, but you really do have to have consideration for them.

This is why I want to move way out into the country on 100 acres of land someday. So that I don’t have to worry about hearing other people’s noise. But I am the extreme. I want to be completely away from people and their noise. The only noise I want to hear is the sounds of nature.

Women are parasites. Each and every last one of them.

I’ve lived on my own on an off in the last 15 years, and neighbors were the f~~~ing bane of my existence. I don’t drink or smoke, so music is my go to most of the time, and not being able to crank my music and actually feel it..well..why am I busting my ass to rent a place I can’t even enjoy when I am home?

Me, I’d like to move to the Australian outback, set up solar panels and one of those deep sunken pipes for heating and cooling, and then just proceed to make all the local wildlife deaf with my sound system.

I would also recommend wind power . I like how that guy made that whole thing work.

As he says ” the bigger one is more air sensitive and starts working right away, while the smaller one doesn’t even move”

But  I would personally go for vertical wind generators,

More easy to maintain, catches even slight wind from ANY direction (doesn’t need to turn to face it), likes any type of wind starting from 0.2 m/s

Reliable, can withstand stormy weather. etc.

headphones is most likely the the course of action since I’m in a one year lease, and facing another heart cath. It wasn’t a problem in the last place at the same volume and I can’t afford my own place. Headphones are worth keeping these people from knocking on my door. I had to test the waters… only been there 2 weeks… and they are shark infested, but it’s interesting seeing pretty mixed reactions on the subject, but hey… texting goes both ways if I hear any s~~~ coming through my walls. Maybe some hd650’s and a Schitt amp. Recommendations are welcome. Going from Ascend Sierra raal towers, horizon raal, lv12r sub, and 4 sierra 2’s to a pair of $80 headphones is quite the downgrade… F~~~!

I should line up a stack of butt kickers against each wall and give these motherf~~~ers a 3:30 am earthquake for raining on my parade, being there 24/7, and being freeloading POS’s.

If you really want to use your surround sound system, I would say to invest in a bit of soundproofing. Otherwise: Headphones
