New AI Able to Fake Your Speech

Gents, take notice.

AI can doctor videos to put words in the mouths of speakers.

A quick summary:
Facial-recognition (FR) systems are the primary backbone of this new technology. In earlier iterations of this software, FR relied on large amounts of video to work – replicating an individual’s facial movements and grafting audio over it is tricky work. This practice was easier on those with more footage resources to pull from – politicians, celebrities, etc.

Now, FR systems can take a still image of someone’s face and manipulate the shape of the mouth to create a video from it to suggest the person is speaking – from a script determined by the AI’s software commands. This is done in real time. These FR systems are currently limited to movements of the mouth while modifying body posture and facial expressions remain in the works.

While there are certainly some benefits to this technology, one can easily imagine how doctored footage will become the next wrench in the legal system. Men, always watch technological development closely! It is paranoia to suggest the world is “out to get you”, it is knowledge to know what the world is capable of.

Logic guides your actions, emotion guides your morals. Only you may decide how you use them.

Pair this up with the Adobe software that can change what you say via text editing, whilst still mimicking your exact vocal identifiers and you can have the potential for a serious problem.

Think fake videos of politicians, assassination targets… men in court etc. that are entirely fabricated with a custom script that looks and sounds 100% genuine.

There will be ways around this. Probably really simple things like turning your head or putting your hand in front of your face or rubbing mud on it or something so that the shapes are distorted and the AI can’t get the lipsync right.
