Having grown up watching the original Lost in Space series, I decided to give the new Netflix remake a look. Where to begin?

Professor John Robinson, Dad, is now a Marine. Why did they change him to what SJWs consider a low-skill, low-IQ profession? See below. His being a Marine was fine while mom was young and needed good benefits and someone to put her through college, but became a liability after she had established herself in her career. Every second or third line from this cuck could easily be replaced with, “Yes, dear. Anything you say, dear,” without losing any of the story. True to form, he was supposed to stop serving his country and do whatever mom wanted when she became a professional. Even when he repeatedly saves the day and protects his family, Maureen acts like he’s a terrible inconvenience.

Maureen Robinson is the feminist’s/beta cuck’s wet dream. She is an aerospace engineer, a professional, and what amounts to a single mom. She is supposed to come across as a strong, independent woman in charge of her own life and able to manage her career, her household, and her family without conflicts. She’s supposed to come across as smart, capable, ambitious, fearless, collected, and commanding. However, she actually comes across as a driven, arrogant, overbearing, know-it-all c~~~ who thinks that all should immediately drop what they are doing to enact her latest, spur of the moment, emotional plan. Also, to her and the writers it was totally reasonable to ask John to sign paperwork allowing her to take the kids to another STAR SYSTEM while he stayed on a rapidly deteriorating Earth, never to see them again. Instead of a divorce, wherein she might have had to stay on Earth to allow John to see his kids occasionally. John, of course, is painted as wholly unreasonable when he told her to f~~~ right off with that idea. Somehow, he managed to get into the colony program, which clearly wrecked Maureen’s plans, as evidenced by her treatment of him throughout the series.

She shows her true colors in the first episode when the kids have the temerity to obey their veteran, survival-expert father rather than her during a crisis situation on an alien planet. She actually says, “Since when do the kids listen to you instead of me?” She clearly, throughout the series, demonstrates that John is useful only for picking up heavy things and killing alien space snakes; he is otherwise completely expendable and a burden to her. Penny even remarks, in what can only be attributed to an aneurysm while the writer was dreaming up this mess, that Mom “expects too little of Dad.”

I could literally end this post right there and you would have everything you need to understand this show.

But, there’s more. In order to please the SJW crowd out there, Judy Robinson, “their” oldest daughter and a brilliant MD at age 18, is also black. Yes, casting and the writers thought this was going to be A-OK within the confines of the story. Apparently, Maureen was out f~~~ing Chad and produced a child while John was off fighting a war. Meanwhile, Judy calls John dad, but acts the way all resentful TV step-children act toward their step-father. John is the ultimate cuck, raising another man’s child while his wife orders him around and his kids disrespect him. It would have made more sense just to make all of the Robinsons black, but the writers had to drive the cuckold spike just that much deeper.

Will Robinson is an eleven year old boy. He’s smart and resourceful, but looks and acts more like a seven year old than his supposed age. Will was neither not smart enough, nor capable enough to get into the colony program, so Maureen actually had to engage in corporate espionage for unknown parties in order to get him on the list. There is no reference to the two girl children experiencing similar difficulties.

Will finds an alien robot that is having difficulties and, through a course of completely unbelievable and improbable events, earns a life debt from the alien machine. It becomes his stalwart protector and constant companion. In fact, Will acts as if the machine is his father, even hugging it for locking him in a closet to “protect” him while his real father was out actually protecting him by killing the alien space snakes that got into the fuel supply and enacting a plan to save the whole family and their ship.

Penny is almost an afterthought. She’s a kind of mechanical whiz tomboy who seems at once competent and incompetent, as the story demands. There is almost no depth to her character and she clearly takes a back seat in the story to her genius, mixed-race half-sister, Judy. She seems to be less intelligent and capable than Will most of the time, yet there was no difficulty in getting her into the colony program.

The noble, courageous, dutiful US Space Corps Major Don West is now a bumbling mechanic who also happens to be a selfish, loud-mouthed, amoral smuggler and general low-life. That’s it. That’s the whole of the depth of his character.

Now, there is a shining light in all this. The one character they butchered actually depicts most women as they really are: Dr. Smith. Yes, the beloved, bumbling villain is now a woman–and, oh, what a woman! She is a textbook sociopath, possessing all of the worst characteristics of women. Her appearance and the gender swap suggests that the writers thought she would come across as a masculine character, but she is all woman to those of us who see things as they are! She is selfish, greedy, duplicitous, manipulative, unstable, and completely amoral. In every circumstance she looks out for herself, poorly. She is completely incompetent but somehow manages to slime her way out of bad situations. She led a life of crime and mental illness on Earth prior to stealing her twin sister’s identity in order to get into the colony program, going to far as to cut the ID chip out of her sister’s arm and tying her up, leaving her alone and bleeding to live out her days on a dying Earth. This, after her sister bequeathed to her all she owned on Earth, including a luxury estate and successful business. Yep, she’s all woman. In fact, she reminds me of my ex-wife.

The robot, for his part, doesn’t say much but gets the job done. He has a dark past, too, because the degenerates in Hollywood think everyone must have a dark past.

All in all, it’s a shallow, hollow rendition of a classic. Netflix has, once again, done a disservice to their customers by airing this tripe.

That’s basically it. Except that Judy is supposed to be Maureen’s daughter from a previous marriage. In fact, towards the end of the series, there’s a wonderful moment where Judy in typical female fashion gets owned. They go to one of the wrecked ships and pillage the fuel. The planet they’re stranded on is dying. And so every so often, the surface explodes with water.

While they’re in the trucks driving them back, the connector line to the tank with fuel becomes dislodged. One of the kids from the other families jumps out while the vehicle is moving and attempts to reconnect it. After doing so, the vehicle and the tank get flipped. The kid gets crushed by the fuel tanker, and the tanker gets punctured. Judy tries to save him and argues with the guy who says they should call for a backup tanker to save the fuel. There’s an argument about how they can’t flip the tanker over or they risk losing the fuel. He puts her in her place about how she’s never really saved a life without a MAN (doctor) present to bail her out. She refuses to obey, and one of the guys white knights and flips the tanker over. Immediately the fuel pours out.

They get the kid in the vehicle and start driving back. Now all the fuel they just went through hell to get is lost. On the way back, the kid dies. So they radio the other vehicle to inform them, and the one guy who argued with her says “so he died for nothing..”

Great moment. She thought she knew better and only made the matter worse.

    Remake = Programming

Enough programming and citizens don’t know why they are miserable.

Programming in the ‘free’ world = propaganda in the not so free world.

That really does not work for the sci-fi fans. Sci-fi fans want thinking stories not crap. This is why sci-fi fans are upset about The Last Jedi and Star Trek Discovery.

Scif-fi fans will enjoy series made before they were born if the stories in the series are of high quality.

If Hollywood is rebooting Lost in Space to flush down the SJW toilet hole then they really are running out of franchises to ruin.

    Where to begin?

Thanks for taking the time to post this analysis! This will forever eliminate any interest I may have fashioned for seeing this series at a later point. Life is way too short to waste on bad entertainment.

for his detailed and thoughtful insights and analysis

Absolutely right, if only all posts were this exacting, yet appropriately terse.

This is precisely why people still watch the original Star Trek, the original Star Wars trilogy, and shows like Lost in Space and Doctor Who. Story is everything. We want our heroes to be manly, heroic men, not some beta male with a “dark” past or some overly man-hating, masculine woman.

It’s also why most men will play “old” games like Fallout, Wasteland, and others rather than the glitzy, glitchy, “pretty” games of today.

I read that it was bad but didn’t know it was that bad!

I avoid pretty much all TV shows like that now – all the comic book shows have strong wimminz as main characters, the Sci Fi shows like ST Discovery are like what you describe above and anything else I wouldn’t want to watch anyway

This was the moment I knew I would never watch a DC comic book show again and this was the first episode of the show (Legends of Tomorrow)

Sadly, I can’t think of anything. I do not watch television, as a rule, but friends and family do. The degenerates in Hollywood have their formula and, until we make it financially untenable for them, they are going to follow it. As always, follow the money to see who is responsible.

F~~~ not another remake. The industry has killed off good new scripts and just does a CGI remake because that’s the easier way to sell the film. S~~~heads.

But thank you for the great critique. You have given Rotten Tomatoes a run for the money.

Fun fact: Dr. Smith is played by the hot cheerleader in Dazed and Confused. She’s not hot anymore, courtesy of the all-time champion The Wall.

    The answer, is no.

    Altered Carbon is good

Except for the part where the main character is hung up on the long-dead super soldier woman who taught him to be a super soldier, his current squeeze only values him for his new “skin” because it belonged to her dead partner, and super soldier is so inept that his little sister has to save him from the big, bad mutant gladiators. I could go on…

    But, sure, it’s better.

I actually HOPE they never reboot Babylon 5, for that reason. I’d hate to see what a mess the sjw’s would make out of that.

    Yeah man.

I enjoyed the show despite that crap…the naked chicks blinded me. The Mexican chick is hot. The Asian bitch too.

The super warrior black chick in the series was a joke. She has ptsd, gets rehabilitated by the AI, and then takes down men like they weren’t even there?

I tried to enjoy that show but sidecar has a point.

    The answer, is no.
