Pascal:
Contact the agency that administers amateur radio in your country about the requirements, such as:
Canada: http://www.rac.ca (Radio Amateurs of Canada)
U. S.: http://www.arrl.org (Amateur Radio Relay League)
U. K.: http://www.rsgb.org (Radio Society of Great Britain)
Australia: http://www.wia.org.au (Wireless Institute of Australia)
Depending on the country, one’s qualification may have to be renewed periodically. In Canada, once one has a callsign, it’s theirs for life and there’s no official charge for writing the exams.
I disagree with OPs statement wholeheartedly. Just because you watch avengers or can sit through a few episodes of star trek and can name a few characters does not mean your into it properly like a nerd would be. Being able to name which episode/comic/timestamp a certain thing happens in a certain episode/movie/whatever in multiple series makes you the nerd.
Same with gaming, so you spent 50 hours playing some random game does not make you a gamer or gamer geek. Putting 1000+ hours into a competitive game where you are wildly achnowledged as great or are highly ranked 6 months after the game is released in multiple games makes you a proper gamer. This is why women will simply never be true geeks and gamers.
