Hey MGTOW,
So I’ve been feeling really lost recently, I was at university for a year doing live and studio music production but left after deciding I didn’t want to do it after all despite doing it at college (UK college). Now I’m unemployed and on the dole.
I’ve now learned that I prefer to work with people than do something technical. And by working with people I mean like improving them in some way, I’d love to do a personal trainer type job as I just have an interest in people but I have no experience in it and besides running long distance I’m pretty skinny for personal trainer standards.
Anyway, all I wanted to ask was do any of you know what I can do? I need to be doing something with myself and I have so much motivation but I don’t know where to direct it, I’m just existing and not living amd everything amd everyone is passing me by and your early 20s are meant to be a good time to be alive…is there anything I can be doing in the meantime?
I just need someone to guide me in a sense.

Good for you for realizing it was something you did not want. It is a very difficult path to go through the formal education system and decide at a young age that you want to do X, and then actually follow through with that initial decision and make it stick. Some people manage it and end up happy, others manage and end up miserable. I think most people just bounce around a bit and eventually fall into a job or career that turns out to be very different from what they initially envisioned.
If you like people maybe get into some type of trade or construction. Consider an apprenticeship or similar. These are actually very people oriented occupations with a huge mix of business relationships and old fashioned teamwork. The framers and plumbers and electricians and masons all need to be aware of the others expectations and requirements and schedules. Massive comradery develops between the men working on the same crew. I was in the construction industry for about seven years after dropping out of university when I was around your age and found it to be one of the best experiences of my life (have since moved back into a technical field). Lots of incredibly useful skills and life lessons to learn there.
Thanks man, I see my miserable parents and others who stuck with a career despite hating it, I’m just not like that, I want to enjoy my life. My friends and family think I’m some sort of waster for leaving the uni course, it’s ridiculous.
The thing about construction/other trade is that despite getting to know the people and talk to them, the job is still to carry out the trade and be all technical whereas I purely want to deal with the person. Whether it be improving their lifestyle as a personal trainer or working at some activity centre and seeing people have fun.
Although I’m still open to suggestions as you’ve given, I just want to get to know people and learn and inspire rather than carry out mundane routines which completely bore me

Desperation is the mother of invention ☺
Many years ago I wanted to learn to fly … but couldn’t afford it.
The only way I could get on a flight deck was to learn skydiving.
So I would alway talk with the pilot before I jumped. I learned quite a lot …. except landings 😁
I didn’t mind skydiving but I needed a way to finance flying.
So I advertised in a sports mag for anyone wanting to learn to skydive.
This allowed me to junk my job and earn much more …. and it grew. I would take groups of 7-15 to USA and teach them.
They would fly back home and I would stick around and take flying lessons.
So I now had two jobs … both which I loved.
Illness stopped me for a while & I became less active. So I started bringing photographers to Africa to film wildlife etc. This also worked out.
Recovered from illness and had brain wave. I brought both photographers and skydivers along at same time.
Dropped skydivers off at trainging camp and flew togs up to Namiba for shoots.
The point of all this trumpet blowing is ….
I just wanted to fly … thats all. It would have stopped at just a little 4 seat cessna …. but what I did have was DEBT from divorce, medical issues etc.
It was horrible and f~~~ed me for quite a while. However, what it did do was give me the ability to see the smallest of openings and throw myself through it. I had nothing to lose … because I had nothing.
Those little business now run themselves. I spend the UK winter in Africa and I work for a pilot agency in the UK over the summers.
If it all ended tomorrow …. I’d be sad …. and probably would cry until the money ran out …. then … well I’d probably look for little openings.
My advice is follow the tide until something finds you. Do some s~~~ jobs but keep eyes and ears open. Think outside mainstream.
Somewhere a guy was thinking …. there is no where for men to go and talk …. get help … just be themselves ….. no where I can help save lives ….
Somewhere that guy had an idea (small opening) and pushed through …. he tried … worked … thought outside the box.
Somewhere there is now a web site guys can go hang out and save other guys.
Open your mind my friend … you can move mountains if you do.
Somewhere there’s a site that will tell you that ….. somewhere 😆

But I can’t be waiting for these small openings to open, I need to actively be on the lookout and so far I have nothing.

Thank you for the advice, life just moves so quickly and I don’t want to miss out working in some s~~~ty job, but if it’s a necessary evil I guess I must even for a short while.
I know I’m better than a retail/production job but I think my arrogance is keeping me back.
I’m hoping that site will be mgtow.com! I was very tempted to go into the city centre witb a sign saying that I’m looking for a job and seeing who shows up.

Bingo ☺
You do what it takes my man. Sometimes doing a s~~~ job will open a door.
I once took a photo shoot for a girl that contacted me out of the blue.
She said she could only cover my costs but no more. She could credit me in magazine and on all photos.
I took it because it seemed fun. Girls, boobies and sweets.
They loved the shots. Next thing I get email from same girl. Could I shoot some DJs for her. Full payment and expenses.
Shoot was for Paul Oakenfold album in Florida & then back in uk studio.
That got me in to shooting all major European festivals.
You just don’t know who you are dealing with. She was just another girl trying to get a cheap shoot …. I was very very wrong.
She was head pa/pr for major music agent.
Get out there … anyway you can. That’s all you can do. But if you do it well …. something will happen.
I have hundreds of such story’s from others also.
F~~~ man …. just go start something … the billboard is a fantastic idea. Know why?
You think you are just looking for work …. but for me …. looking for an assistant … I’d think
F~~~ he’s got guts, drive, determination, self worth …. adventurous and thinks outside the box. This guy has something I can work with.

Hopefully something as lucky as your encounter will happen for me, getting to travel doing what I love sounds like a dream.
I think I might do that thing holding up a sign, I’ve got nothing to lose and Manchester is a big city so I’m sure I’ll bump into someone who has a similar response as what you say you’d have.
