I work in a hospital adolescent psychiatric unit. The shift into this pseudo-reality over the last 8 years has been remarkable. It is commonplace to hear the admitting nurse ask what their preferred pronouns are. What is so frustrating is that this is total indoctrination through education, the media, and culture, and it does impact their mental health greatly. This simply didn’t exist 8 years ago, and seems to be accelerating especially over the last year. These kids can’t cope and are very suicidal. This is cultural child abuse because these kids are really lost and suicidal.

I simply won’t participate. I refer to them by their room and bed number. I will not use altered pronouns when speaking to other staff about them. Last week someone commented that the last 5 admits in a row were transgendered.

National Geographic has gone to utter s~~~ in the last few years, such that last year was the last year I paid for it. The articles became short and vapid and I stopped reading them. I was a Nat Geo subscriber for years. Then a couple of years back they announced that Murdoch’s News Corp had taken it over, so I immediately cancelled it.
