Alright so I decided to take some advice to protect my name but for what ever reason the new username isn’t showing up does it take time or do I have to delete the old threads first? sorry if this is a simple and easy fix im just currently extremely tired due to lack of sleep at the moment but im gonna head to bed will check this thread when I wake up thank you for reading this

We’re working on this tonight. MACHO actually brought this to my attention and I am working on this for him. When I fix it for him, it will work for everyone. Considering it a priority and one of the first things we’re doing this tonight and this weekend.

THE DEAL (simple short version)

Your “display name” can be anything you want.
When you visit your profile, changing your display name changes the value for “display name” field – only. (at the moment)

The forums use the field “nickname”. We need to have any change to your display name DETECTED, and if “nickname” does not equal “display name”…. change “nickname” to “display name”. Then whatever you change it to on your profile will appear in the forums.

The AUTO DETECTION was custom written into the previous version of the site – but not this version.

I will post a broadcast notice to everyone about this in case others are wondering.

Samurai… this is now in effect for all members. I have test/logged in as you… saved your display name as “Legend of the Samurai”… and it now reflects in the forums. This is verified for MACHO as well who asked for the same thing. Everyone can now edit their profile (top right menu), change the display name and the change will take effect site-wide.

Yes! If you visit your profile you will see the message “testing roles now”. The feature to change your email exists. With the last update, “roles” operate quite differently ( it’s not you, it’s us). There are “participants”, “spectators”, “basic/new member”.. custom roles like “ghost” and “galt” ….. and each of these have their own set of permissions.

When the “role” thing is sorted on your profile page, we will be able to see what level everyone is. Right now, when we’re testing and visiting the profile(s), it shows MY permissions. It should show YOURS (the profile owner).

So as son as we fix this, we will sweep through all roles and make sure all the permissions are set for all roles. But I can’t confirm it “done” for everyone until it displays properly.

I expect this will be done tonight.

I also noticed G-MOW’s comment above. He changed his display name on his profile to “Vulva Driver”. (That’s funny). But his display name in the forums was still “G-MOW”. So I admin/test/logged-in as him and the switch kicked in.

This only works for the profile owner.
So this is a change members can only do as themselves.
( No other admin or moderator can change your display name )
