my weakness and the problems of girlfriends and their stupid family

I am quite ashamed at how weak I can be at times. I think I am too nice. I don’t like offending people. I’m not strong enough. I don’t tell people where to get off.

When I am living with my girlfriend, I seem to lose all power in my life. I am not living with her now.

Anyway here is what happened last time I was living with her. She has a job in a foreign country, where I don’t speak the language.

I had an “accident” one day in this foreign country. I won’t say what it is, because I don’t want to reveal too many details. Let’s say I had an accident with the nature over there. The chances of me dying from this accident were about 15%. The death would be slow and spread over weeks. I was in no immediate danger of dying, but it really would be a good idea to go to a hospital within a couple of days.

My first thoughts were to return to my home country. I can get free hospital treatment there and I speak the language. I could be home within a day.

But oh no!!!!! My girlfriend couldn’t possibly let me return home.

She phoned her stupid family who don’t believe in modern medicine. They decided to treat my problem with stupid folk cures, which most certaintly wouldn’t even get near the problem.

I just don’t believe I didn’t tell these idiots to f*** off. They wasted most of a day when I couldn have been at hospital.

Finally my girlfriend got a clue and took me to the Accident and Emergency department of a hospital. Anyway the doctor there prescribed some modern medicine drugs and told my stupid girlfriend it was really important I took them IMMEDIATELY. The hospital gave us the address of a pharmacy open all night.

So what did my girlfriend then do? She telephoned her mother to have a discussion about how I shouldn’t take the modern medicine just prescribed to me. She was busy talking on the phone when I was trying to get to the pharmacy as fast as possible. I couldn’t believe it.

Anyway I realized this was idiocy beyong belief and went to the pharmacy and tool the pharmaceuticals. I later had blood tests and am completely fine. Weeks have gone by and I am completely well.

You know what I always find interesting about these situations where someone knows what to do but won’t do it. It’s a proven well studied fact that when a person is making decisions, and has decided to perform an action, a certain part of the brain will actually blip slightly beforehand in other words, there is a legitimate physical action in the brain associated with simply deciding to do something. With this girlfriend, all you have to do is simply decide what you want to do and do it.

She can’t stop you, you stop yourself.

Maybe I’m an exception but I say what I want, to who I want, any time I want regardless of their authority or standing relative to me. Why wouldn’t I? It has cost me jobs but I had already decided that those jobs weren’t worth my time.

It’s not necessarily always a good thing, I’m just lucky I never go to court because I would probably be held in contempt for being an asshole. Anyway, my point is, for some reason it seems hard to you, but it’s not. It’s just words and actions. Just do them. Try having some ownership in your life. It feels damn good.
