I just got off the phone with my mom and she told me that my grandpa, age 87, died this morning willingly. He had the flu recently which almost killed him then, but he was willing to die because he was in serious poor health and living alone for the past 7 years since my grandma died in 2013. I don’t know if I’ll have to go to a funeral soon, because I’m assuming they’re going to take him to deep southern Illinois where he was born. Whatever it is, my mom’s family took a tragic loss this morning.

At least he had a long life. Most men don’t live to be 87. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear of your loss RE. Funerals are a time to grieve; I don’t like it when ppl try to hold back the tears/grief. That’s what they are for to grieve and remember.
You will always have memories of your Grandpa.

Deepest Sympathy .. i lost my Dad last year, Alzheimers and Dementia resulted in a heart attack .. there are no words to describe the loss of a family member, like your Grandpa, and after a loss like that things aren’t ever the same

Sorry to hear that Resident Evil. Glad he had a long life first. I hope you and your family recover from the loss while remembering what he gave you.

Sorry for your loss. Both of mine were role models to me, in different ways — and both are gone now. I think about them often.

Sorry man. I hope your sadness soon passes.

The evil in women’s hearts leaves them no moral bounds as to inhibit them from descending to the lowest levels of darkness to acquire their self entitled desires.

Thanks guys for all your sympathy, but I’m not really that broken apart by it. We weren’t that close to each other. He spent most of my life living out of state. Plus he lived a full life. If he had died younger, then I would be broken up. I pretty much moved on. I woke up at 10 AM, I’m going to the gym to meet with a trainer, then I’m going to buy lottery tickets and then go grocery shopping as if it was any other Wednesday.

If it was my mom, or dad or best friend or my cat who died, then I would be devastated, because I’m close to all of them.

Getting older sucks… you start to lose more of those you do care about. Remember the good things about him and keep trucking.
