I can’t even read this post or the comments. I just can’t. Seriously, all of you guys are hella rich, working hard to be successful in what you’re doing and saving like responsible citizens. And then you turn around and just let women take it from you. I’m sure you guys take no bulls~~~ from people at work or within your social circle, so why do you roll over for these c~~~s. Man, these stories make me angry. Not at women, but at men who let women do this to them.
I have discovered a truly remarkable list of reasons why women are not necessary for a happy life, but alas this margin is too small to contain it.

Absolutely, yes it was our stupid fault for getting married in the first place but we had no choice when it came to loosing our houses. The other problem is when children are involved they need somewhere to live and no man wants his children to be homeless.
When you get divorced, everything and everyone is against you. Of course you are angry that you have been scammed but eventually you accept the reality of the situation and move on. Best to get it over and done with as soon as possible rather than drag it out for years and give all your money to solicitors.
Trust me, a few years down the line the happiness you feel at being shot of her will outweigh the money you have lost.

Women suck at seeing the big picture. Pretty much every once married never divorced older(60+) year old couple I know that bought 1 modest home, paid it off, and lived in it their whole lives has managed to have a well funded, and often early retirement. Every dumb ass couple I know that has upgraded houses multiple times has ended up house poor with a big house that sits empty after the kids all move out, and many of them ended up double f~~~ed as they thought home prices would go up endlessly and used equity like an ATM right up until the bubble bursts. I know people who have literally been paying a mortgage for 20+ years on a single property and are STILL underwater on it.
I know women just love big houses for bragging rights, but the only thing I could think of more useless than a big house is a wedding ring. WTF do you even do with a huge house? Buddy of mine when I was younger had some loaded parents who built a 4000ish square foot house for 3 people. They used literally 1.5 bathrooms, 2 couches and a tv in the living room, the kitchen, and 2 of the 5 bedrooms. They probably used about 1200 square feet worth of the house about 95% of the time they were in it…the rest was just spare rooms filled up with expensive furniture nobody ever used and storage space for his mom to fill up with random junk. It was fine for them because they made a ton of money and still retired millionaires anyhow…but for the average person who doesn’t to buy something like that because princess wants it is f~~~ing nuts!

But only some manage to make it in the end, the majority gets bankrupt and foreclosedYeah some guys definitely do that s~~~ as well…I see it every day when I walk out in the parking lot of my condo building and some people are driving cars and renting here, only their car costs more than what it would cost to just buy a unit…they literally invest more in something that will depreciate over time than something that will appreciate and lower their monthly expenses. I just think with big houses its generally more the woman wants it…most the guys I know just see it as more money, more taxes, more maintenance, more space for the wife to fill up with s~~~, etc.

OldBill, were in agreement. No debate there. However, I’m not talking about divorce. OPs post mentioned nothing about divorce. I’m talking about the wife just coming over and telling the guy what he should buy based on what she sees in an ad. Its that kind of s~~~. Just saying, if you have never EXPERIENCED being married with children, and facing the very REAL potentiality of losing your children and being homeless then it’s very hard to understand exactly why married men do make some of the seemingly irrational choices that they do during marriage. There are many loving wives that will divorce rape their resident home slave for far less offenses then mentioned above. Your sad stories fit in with hundreds of German divorce stories I have come to know in all of these years. It was always my job to move the home electronics from one house to another, set everything up and hope for money to come in.
And I saw the madness in it: New cars, big mansion. I thought: Who is gonna pay for that?
Instead of feeling jealous I started feeling sorry for these people. Debt is so bad, that it takes away all of your quality of life. And I would rather sleep in my mother’s basement, than in a big house that is beyond my means. And I always saw these “pretty” wife wenches that wanted everything “their way”. Let’s remodel.” She starts at one end and remodels the entire house; not just easy stuff either. Very expensive interior renovations. A few years later she says ” I hate this place! It’s time to move up!” They buy a bigger place; same thing again. ” I hate this place!” They remodel the new place stem to stern for thousand and thousands of dollars. A few years later, again, ” I hate this place!! I can’t stand to live here another minute!!”. They buy a place so big it has two water heaters and HVAC units.
