Have you thought about recommending this site to your friend? I know he has a lot on his plate but the advice and support of those on forum may be of comfort and help to minimize the impact of the divorce.

Besides looking bad i think it’s a smart idea if only to avoid having to have all the medical bills come back on her to pay which she will be legally responsible for if they’re married. If they’re not, then she’s not responsible. Although waiting until he’s diagnosed may not be that helpful since many states have a 6-12 month cooling off period and by then his medical bills will be hundreds of thousands of dollars.
