This past Sunday I went to our local Farmer’s Market (we call it the French Market where I live, but it’s still the same thing), and made my first purchase. I was able to get 3 large bundles of green onions (I love it with half the things I eat as a sprinkle toping) for $2, 2 real Wisconsin cheeses for $9, a head of broccoli and 3 large bunches of asparagus. The whole thing coasted me $19. I would of gotten more, but I wasn’t going to spend extra for some of the other things they had there. I mean $4 for strawberries picked the day before (2 for $9), and same thing with peaches. I wish they had blueberries, but that would of been expensive also. Too bad blueberries are usually expensive, because that’s my favorite fruit.

Speaking of things expensive, I would NEVER buy fish and poultry from a Farmer’s Market. A 1-pound of boneless/skinless chicken breast: $20. A single lake trout fish: $17. I can go to Aldi and get 10 tilapia fish (about 2 pounds) for $5.29 and get 2 chicken breasts for $3. So screw that!

I’ve already eaten the string cheese I bought. It was good, but it was quite solid and a little salty. I never seen string mozzarella cheese that’s crooked and L-shaped. So that’s what Wisconsin cheese is like? I hear it’s the best kind of cheese in America.

I just can’t wait until later in the season when they’ll have more selections and hopefully cheaper prices. Too bad they don’t take SNAP, because I’d rather purchase my produce fresh instead of store bought.

Dude, this post reminded me that I’ve not been to a farmers market this year. I have two good ones nearby, I totally need to go. Good on ya’ for buying local grown!

These weren’t local grown. Some came from Michigan, the peaches came from Georgia. I’m from Illinois. I hope I managed to get my hands on Compton peaches, which are from very southern Illinois, because I hear they are the best type of peaches.

You should see the size of the green onions I got. They’re about the size of a quarter, when I’m used to seeing them smaller than the roundness of a dime.

Its nice being able to purchase your food from someone and actually be able to talk to them face to face. If you have any questions about their produce you can ask Instead of shopping in the supermarket and hoping the food hasn’t been sprayed with every chemical in existence.

I was just doing a little bit of gardening yesterday afternoon: spinach, strawberries, squash, etc.

I’m becoming my own farmers market, fruits, veggies, eggs, and soon goat milk and cheese. I never thought I’d get this far into f~~~ going to the store. I’m not done either, f~~~ calling for fuel oil when there’s so much plastic, wood, and motor oik everywhere for free! When or if I get my expected boost in dollars, I’ll be spending them ON ME! MY SURVIVAL! Not one penny toward a woman, cause they’ll p~~~ it away like it’s free!
