Been looking hard for the last three weeks. I’ll admit the first week was garbage. I was lazy, unmotivated. By this third week I’ve developed a format, a formula of how I navigate through all the job sites. By no means am I crushing it yet. Out of 100 applications I’ve submitted I’ve gotten maybe one or two call backs. I’m looking every day, brain storming every day. My job right now is a professional job applier.

Around this time most people would think there’s something wrong with their resume. Which is why you need to make sure you have a good mentor or person who knows resumes, so you don’t go crazy trying to rearrange the resume every damn second because xyz job didn’t call you back.

The more I do this, the more I realize that it’s literally timing and a numbers game. I have noticed with all these sites like Indeed and Careerbuilder, monster, these guys are probably making a killing (there’s a business in the hiring business lol). I’ve been mainly getting call backs from Indian sounding people who claim to be head hunters for xyz business….they’ll start the message by saying they saw my resume and think they may have a position that will be a good fit for me. I wonder how much they take from the company if they end up hiring through them. It’s gotta be bordering a scam since these business’ don’t have any issue finding candidates, they just need to post their jobs on indeed and are probably getting hundreds of resume’s flooding their inbox. I’ll probably stop going through these head hunters as they’re def cluttering the path for these companies to be able to contact potential candidates. Doubtful they are doing this out of the goodness of their own heart.

I’m also gonna start dropping by my local unemployment office to see what they’re up to and if they have any decent resources. I’m def staying up beat and positive about this entire process. But time is def of the essence. Giving myself until april to land something. Any advice is much appreciated.

I started applying for AV Tech positions (what I did for the last 10 years) and have now added in banquet server and delivery driver, dish installation, jobs as well. One thing I am shocked about is how many people there are looking for work though. If you don’t think age discrimination is a real thing, it’s def very real. I’m in great shape and don’t look my age, but man, if you look 10 years older than your real age and never took care of yourself I can only imagine how it’s going for those people with basic job skills.

    Back to the grind

Good luck with the job search. Sounds like you’ve certainly got a handle on the motivation now. A friend recommended a book to me when I was job hunting called “Great Answers to Tough Interview Questions Paperback – by Martin John Yate”. You can problably pick up a second hand copy on Amazon for not very much. It has CV tips and everything. I definitely found it helpful and was grateful for the recommendation

May you walk in peace and happiness, May you and all mgtow, near and far walk in peace and happiness.

    College career centers
every website has a career page
night jobs in retail Walmart, home depot, Target. No one wants to work night jobs.
    tutoring on college campus

Use google maps to identify businesses, then find their web pages to cut down on driving around
    Local newspapers and craigslist

If all that fails, be a web cam model lol

Use unemployment as a time to get in better physical and mental shape. Hit the gym, get some dumbells, do calesthenics in the living room and eat healthier. Look pretty for your interviews instead of some strung out unemployed schlub

I am going to a technical school to pick up some certificates, I have been “attending” free online classes and working on code academy. Also bought a nice camera and learning how to use it.

lol tutoring. I worked with a guy who thought copying and pasting entire Wikipedia articles would be ok. Worked with a chick who thought a baseball falling off a 100 meter building was travelling at 99,000 mph when it hit the ground. Ohhh boy.

Good luck amigo. Don’t give up.

You could also print out a load of CVs and knock on some doors. Great way to get fit, and also a way of introducing yourself to potential employers.
Managed to get three jobs doing this. Positives were that I didn’t have to go through HR s~~~ tests, and I got the job before it was advertised.

You’ll also find that some employers consider this a good use of initiative and shows you’re keen. Much better than firing off Cvs online dude.

We have three IT positions opening up if you’re willing to move to Missouri. A level 1 Help Desk technician, a level 1 onboarding technician, and a level 1 Service Desk technician.

Trying to find a job online is worse than online dating seriously. Good luck though. You need to get past a machine filter first before any human reads your resume these days. Make sure you fill your resume with specific keywords in the job ad before submitting so you’ll get past those damn filters.

Keep up the morale and keep hitting it. Until you get that offer it can be discouraging but then comes a call that someone is interested and everything changes. The only thing I have to add is its easier to get a job when you have one. That sucks but I think there is some truth in it.

Around here they are always looking to hire security guards that will work night shift. And I see signs up all the time for drivers, but some require a special endorsement on your license. Finally, they are so in need of Heating and Air conditioning (HVAC) installers here that companies are offering a small wage while they train you at their expense.

    Best of luck to you.

How can a woman be expected to be happy with a man who insists on treating her as if she were a perfectly normal human being.

there’s something wrong with their resume.

There probably isn’t finding a job is a knightmare.

Companies often don’t advertise the salary

Recruitmnet consultanst advertsie jsobs taht don’t really exist.

Companies do teh same as well -bizarrly or tehy ahve to adevrtsie it when tehy knwo it is goingto an internal candidate.

May companies use automated systems thatread yor cv for certain words and phrases and it works on a % density too high adensity is as bad as a low density bizarrly and in the bin you go without evre being read by a human.

I have had 1 interveiw since teh endo fnovembera nd truned down 4 interviews whne it turned out the boss was a TUNA. (even though I’m unemployed – I worked for a TUNA once nver again even if I am down to my last £5 note)

The thinkg that really p~~~es me off is when tehy dont even saend you a thanks but no thanks email after a 2nd round interview.

If you focus on achievements and never include anything irrelevant or above or below what they want then your Curriculum vitae / resume is fine.

    Tweak it for each application.

    Careerbuilder,

basically Career builder sell specialist job boards to recruitment consultants – pointless as all the jobs are on generic job boards anyway where everyone looks. Last time I had dealings with them they were looking for a buyer hq is in chicago. They then sell some crappy software that grabs cadidates detaisl from linked in
Bag of bollocks basically like most thing sin this s~~~ty world

In UK I Just use indeed.co.uk it aggregates all the jobs form the various websites.

    HAven’t used monster for years

The recruitment inudstry is a bag of s~~~ full of sharks.

Lots of helpful information and feedback. Much appreciated fellas.

Being in the NYC area there’s quite a ton of jobs being offered away from NYC, like Jersey, but in about an an hour awah from jersey (amd that without traffic).

One friend of mine keeps saying I need to get out of NYC. He’s not wrong, but I’m not leaving until there’s a wonderful offer that I can’t refuse. I can’t just leave though without something solid in the bag.

Wanted to give an update to where I’m at right now. I ended up getting a call back from almost all companies I met with at the job fair. I went with working part time at Whole Foods (doing deliveries). They hired me almost instantly. I believe it’s partly because most people who apply for retail jobs in NYC are young and don’t have a license. Yes, in NYC most people do not drive especially millenials under the age of 25. It’s expensive to own a car here (insurance, not to mention all the meter maids trying to give out as many tickets to car owners as much as possibe….the city is broke). Paper work was yesterday and Orientation is on Tuesday.

So I’ll do that part time, keep my head down in that organization, work hard, be dependable, and hope to learn/grow. If I hate it I’ll just move on to something else. The second job I’m looking to get is either a spot at Chick Fil A or with a home health care company. The Chick Fil A interview really impressed me. Yes, it’s fast food but the way they’re doing it, with how organized they were, intrigues me. Every Chick Fil A isn’t run the same, they’re franchises but this owner seems to be a very smart millionaire who understands what hiring the right people is all about.

If they don’t call me for a second interview though no harm done. The home health job seems more up my alley anyway since it’s going into old people homes (these are their own private homes), cleaning up for them and seeing what they need. Hopefully it does not involve me giving them sponge baths or wiping their asses. The hours are flexible as f~~~ which is why I’m interested. They require paperwork like references, notarized letters, and other annoying stuff regarding a back ground check but that’s fine. I’ll know if the job is too good to be true by next week after I’ve gone in a interviewed.

Over all I aim to work two jobs for now (both part time) and continue to save up for my Financial Independence until I can get something much more stable.

I did take the Traffic Cop exam for the city last monday and easily passed it. I also applied for a carpentry apprenticeship with the City. Went early Wednesday morning and waiting in line with about one hundred other men seeking apprenticeship jobs. Mailed in the application the same day. Hopefully they call me back, but the odds are slim. Getting an apprenticeship like that basically means you’re set for the next 30 years. It’s like winning the lottery in that you’re making over 100k after 3 years or less. And the Union is no joke. Unlike the union I’ve been dealing with with my other issue, this Union actually protects their workers and makes things happen.

The way I narrowed down which jobs to take, I basically rejected any job that wasn’t offering a flexible schedule, or that had to do with sales. If I don’t support the product being peddled 100 percent I won’t be able to sell it. I’d also rather work a menial low paying job and know it’s steady pay than to have my money fluctuate based on sales. I’ll sell things on my own time.

Right now the only job I have that will start bringing me income is the WF job. No telling how long the Home Health care will take to process me or if I’ll even like it when I show up and interview.

My time table in needing to get something going by the end of February seems to be on schedule at least. Let’s see what happens. Best case scenario I end up liking what the Home health care job is offering, Chick Fill A calls and so does Trader Joes (I applied for them last week). Worst case, I don’t like the Home Health care set up, and never hear back from either Chick Fill A or TJ’s. Plenty of options either way.

No telling how long it will take for the apprenticeship application to process. The traffic cop application won’t go into effect until the Summer time at the earliest so I’ll def need something to hold me over until then. Stay Tuned

My job right now is a professional job applier.

The pay for that job really sucks, even with an unemployment check but the long-term benefits are almost limitless. Never give up, you can’t afford to.
